Gacked from lyo

Story Collection:
Light in Darkness. Sailor Moon. Chaptered. Incomplete, on hiatus. 23,218 words.
Sequel to The Life and Times of Wyatt, Chris and Melinda Halliwell. Charmed. Chaptered. Complete. 55,119 words.
You Said You Wouldn't. Animorphs. Marco/Ax. One-shot. Complete. 1,285 words.
The Choices We Make. Supernatural. Chaptered. Complete. 90,496 words.
Watching Over Me. Supernatural. One-shot. Complete. 1,475 words.
Obstinance Abounds. Supernatural/Charmed crossover. Chaptered. In progress. 54,822 words.
An Elder Scrolls III/IV Morrowind/Oblivion story that I haven't posted but have been working on for like a couple of weeks. Chaptered. Incomplete. 25,992 words.
Various one-shots I've written for specific people, all complete, totaling 12 stories, anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 words. Most of these are private, so I'm not including links to them.
Various stories I've started but haven't really given titles or posted anywhere. This includes one Marcus/Oliver story for Harry Potter (1,880 words), a Marco/Ax story for Animorphs (5,765 words), a Chris/Bianca story for Charmed (10,096 words), and a new SPN story set in season 4 (2,761 words).

So I guess this year, I've written a total of 287,909 words, and 23 stories, about a third of which remained incomplete. These are in no particular order (so it's not as if I wrote the first one first, etc.) The word counts for these here are straight from my own personal .doc files. These include no author's notes from the FF.net pages, and do not include breaks, centering, etc. My Sailor Moon story has a much higher word count than FF.net's because it has several chapters not posted.

My best story of this year: Probably The Choices We Make. It's not only the highest in word count of any story I've ever written, I consider it one of my best written stories thus far. The quality is considerably better than that which I've written before.

My favorite story of this year: So far, my unnamed Morrowind/Oblivion fiction is my favorite. Although I really enjoy all the ones I've written, I've had more fun plotting and writing that one than any other one.

Most popular story this year: Either The Choices We Make or Life and Times Sequel, both of which have a high number of reviews and hits on FF.net (8,996 hits and 55 reviews, 6,724 hits and 37 reviews, respectively).

Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: I'm gonna say Light in Darkness. I haven't written in the anime world in a long time, and I forgot how shippy it is. My story is all gen, with just the pairings on the show being prevalent. It has a really rich plot (in my opinion), but it seems the most under appreciated because the sailor senshi aren't boinkin' each other.

Most fun story to write: My unnamed Morrowind/Oblivion fic by FAR. Close second is The Choices We Make.

Story with the single sexiest moment: Obstinance Abounds, since it's the only story I've written where I've gotten a little bit hot under the collar. But hey, Dean/Chris? Come on, those two are just asking for some sexy moments. And there are plenty more to come.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: Probably the unnamed Chris/Bianca fic. It's no surprise I'm not a big fan of Bianca, but that's slowly shifting. Plus I don't write het very often, and if I do, it isn't the main ship in the story, if there is one.

Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: The Choices We Make and Obstinance Abounds. They both made me really rethink the way I see Dean, but more particularly, Sam and Chris, respectively. 99% of The Choices We Make is written from Sam's POV, and about half of Obstinance Abounds is from Chris's. I've RPed these two for coming up on a year now, but writing them has really made me think twice about some things.

Hardest story to write: I don't know why, but my Marcus and Oliver fic. I have like 5 solid pages of plot written for them, but I just can't seem to get myself to write it. It's almost painful to, and I think it may be because I've moved on from HP, pretty much.

Biggest Disappointment: Probably Light in Darkness. I had a lot of fun writing it, but it has some of the shortest chapters I've ever written (around 1k on average, whereas a good chunk of my stories have 2k average chapters, and now, about 4k average). It was also a huge flop with fans, which is disappointing. I have I think three reviews for that one.

Biggest Surprise: Life and Times Sequel. I actually stopped this story for like...gosh, three or four months, but my loyal readers picked right back up on it when I started writing again. And I thought it would be REALLY difficult to write after I'd stuck myself in a corner, but I worked my way out of it and managed to not only write lots, but finish it.

Most Unintentionally Telling Story: Probably The Choices We Make. The way Sam transforms throughout the story is just...amazing to me. The struggles he goes through, too, and how he responds to them, they just...gah. Now I'm making myself want to read the story again.

Overall Thoughts: 2008 was a very good year for my writing. Some of my best work has come out of 2008, and even though the year itself I think was a roller coaster, at least my writing remained pretty level. I also managed to work my way up to larger chunks of chapters because of The Choices We Make. On average a chapter in there is about 4,000 words, whereas my previous average was about 2,000. Obstinance Abounds has an abnormal average of about 7,000 words a chapter, and I've really enjoyed working with that one.

I wish I could have written more Animorphs when I was heavy back into that fandom around September/October of this year, but I think...it's hard for me to write that now? I'm 21, and the last time I read Animorphs, I was 16--their age at the end of the series. So, I could relate to them better. While I enjoyed the books MUCH more this time around than the last time, I had trouble writing them. I think, also, I was trying to recreate my Choices story, which is just...impossible, no matter how hard I try.

I had a lot of fun writing this year. I have two stories going currently, both of which take a lot of time and effort. 2009 will probably not be as prolific for me since there's a chance I'll be going to Korea, and I'll be moving to Monterey, CA over the summer to go to graduate school. So I guess in a way it's good that I could get all of this stuff out of me now, huh?
