To put it simply, Morgana suffered from nightmares. However, the nightmares that plagued her were anything but. In the middle of the night, the visions would invade her slumber, sending flashes of the future to the front of her mind. The visions were different, but they all meant the same thing: danger. Sometimes it was Arthur in danger, other times it was Gwen, and sometimes it was all of Camelot. As the days passed, the visions grew worse, sinking deeper into her subconscious and throwing her sleeping mind into a frenzy. She would wake up screaming, her voice hoarse, the sweat clinging to her body through her bed clothes. Gwen would soon come in to find her in hysterics. She would hold her and reassure her that everything would be all right. But sometimes Gwen wasn't there. On those nights, Morgana sought the comfort of another.

On such nights, she would get up and cross to the other side of the chambers. She would knock three times on the wall, and within minutes receive three identical knocks on her door. She would open her door and there he would be, in all his glory. He would take her into his arms almost immediately, and she would weep. When her sobs subsided, they would cross the room and lie down sideways on her bed, on top of the sheets. She would curl into him and rest her head on his chest, listen to the gentle thrumming of his heart against her ear. It was there she would finally relax into a restful sleep, until morning came, when it was all tangled sheets and awkward silences.

But she would silently thank him as he headed out her door, straight back to his chambers to prepare for the upcoming day of training. He would occasionally receive the odd look from Merlin, but would brush it off and continue with his preparations for the day ahead. She would get dressed like normal, and take breakfast alone. But she never really felt lonely, because though she often spent her time in solitude, she knew that whenever he was needed, her knight in shining armor would be there to answer her call.

end.
