A love letter to Werewolf: the Apocalypse

I loved Werewolf: the Apocalypse. I’m not ashamed to say so, but it’s funny how hard that is hard to write. I really did adore the game, but the cynicism that my generation got so good at during its collective twenties still kind of nips at me. I was never able to form a good opinion about Werewolf the RPG, since I discovered Jyhad before table-top games in eighth-grade, and therefore assumed that all horror RPGs were intensely political and everyone dressed like Gucci models. When someone showed me the Rage card game in high school, all I saw were geysers of blood, so I assumed it was for power gamers.

I have not much enjoyed the Werewolf larps I have played (I have a whole rant about this if you want to hear) but I actually have loved all the werewolf tabletops I have played.

We ran the full Chicago by night scenario, so I was able to play both a vampire and werewolf in that setting. And yes, my poor wee Toreador did, in fact, just beg a whole lot.
