This poor thing is so neglected. I'm ill now and can't sleep so it seems like a decent time to update. My throat is pretty much hating me so I'm enjoying the scratchy hatred by doing voices and singing in tones I can't usually manage. It's kind of fun ( Read more... )

I understand though because emotional angst is also my muse, when I'm happy and stable I neglect my writing. I have so many unfinished pieces that are collecting dust on my hard drive and flash drive because I haven't touched them in months.

"Am I a bad writer for not being capable of portraying feelings that conflict with my own well enough?" <---Hmmm, not necessarily. We write what we know and just because one finds it difficult or even impossible to write from a particular point of view that doesn't mean a person is a bad writer. Sometimes it is very hard to get into a particular character's mind and view things from that perspective, especially if one is not in that particular state of mind at the time they are trying to write said character.

That is because, as one of favorite professors at Mason used to say, poetry is a purging of the soul, an emesis of emotion so to speak.

I know, lovely image, but if you think about it, quite accurate.
