I have realized that when you student teach you take on your cooperative teacher's perspective.

With the over bearing, smothering elementary teacher I could remediate her class and turn it around. I brought the kids around. Just before I left I got the kids to think for themselves on the highest level of Bloom's Taxonomy. It was rewarding. Really

is there anyone on the staff you can talk to?

I have talked to my adviser and she has agreed that the situation is impossibly unchangeable. She agrees that it is messed up.
The other 8th grade teachers are also pretty pessimistic about the class and dump on the kids.

So they just declare defeat instead of trying to change the situation, work with it, or fire the offenders? I don't understand that line of thinking, especially not around kids...
