elspethsheir here. Ter passed away peacefully this afternoon, at the age of 52. She moved to a hospice home on Wednesday, July 30, to spend her last few days in a quiet and beautiful place. Ter was one of the greatest people I met online, and I think I will miss our snail-mail correspondence more than anything--I have never known anyone else who could imbue even the littlest things with a heartfelt and unique touch, the sheer amount of care that she put into everything, the thoughtfulness and the way she could draw the most interesting and surprising things out of everyone. She always had insights on everything good: writing, opera, the world, and she shared of herself with wit and style.

I wish I'd met her IRL (we got close one time), and now I wish I'd sent more notes and not gotten so busy. I'm going to miss her horribly.

Ter watched the RPG I mod for years and she always had the best comments and observations about it. I loved talking to her about opera, and every time one of her LJ posts came up on my flist I smiled. I loved reading what she had to say, what she was thinking of. Her take on publishing blurbs always amused me. I loved those so much.

Every aria I listen to now will have a bit of Ter in it.

She'll be missed greatly.

I only knew Ter on LJ, but she was always a joy to read and converse with here. I have many fond memories of conversations about books, opera, and places we'd both been to in Europe. I'll miss all this, the posts about Harry Potter, her publishers lunch weekly snark, her reports on the antics of the local fauna...

Ter, I'll miss you.

She was brilliant and vibrant and generous. I'll miss reading her thoughts so much. :(
