The last couple of nights have been full of crazy fun.
Last night I hosted my first girls night. Nothing big...not a party or anything...just a few girls over for some, well, girly-ness. The opera girls came (with little sister in tow) providing many chick flicks. Tasha came providing the fondue pot. And I provided the pizza and liquor. Rebecca wasn't kidding when she said she made a mean Margarita. They were pretty awesome. There was an incident with a cork and a Drambui bottle, but I performed some pretty nifty and creative surgery involving skewers, and all was well. We watched "Enchanted" (Tasha and Jessica had never seen it), and did the crazy girl thing. Steph stopped by late after much auction craziness and had some very tasty fondue. I'm really glad the girls all mixed well (seeing as how they mostly didn't know each other beforehand), and had a great time. I'm not used to hanging out with girls, but they're pretty cool. It's good to know I have friends I can count on.
Two nights ago, I met up with my friend Stephany for dinner and drinks. She brought along one of her friends from high school, Allie, who turned out to be pretty freakin' awesome. We had a great time at dinner, then went to the Hibernian for drinks where we were met by more of their high school friends. After a while, we all headed over to the Red Room for some salsa. Now, I know the basic step, but I'm not salsa dancer. Luckily it's all just about having fun. And...I met a guy! We kept making eye contact and walking past each other. I finally struck up a conversation (go me!), and we had a great chat (I'm a girl who can hold her own in a conversation about sports...again, go me!). I even got him out on the dance floor (my friends were very impressed). Unfortunately, he lives in NJ. He said he'd call when he's back in town on business, but even if he doesn't it felt really good to be noticed and to know someone was attracted to me. Let's face it, it's hard to remember that you're awesome and attractive when you've been dumped. That's just the way it is. But I have a new hairstyle, which I totally love, and am really trying to put myself out there. It was really nice to be noticed.
