Hey, Laura. This is exciting! I bought my house when I was 30, so you are not far off! There is a thing called "buyer's remorse" that hits you about a week after you move in, when you wonder "What in the world have I done and why!!?" but it goes away. We just bought the house across the street from us for my mother (by "just" I mean about a year ago!) and at the time I also felt it was a but sudden (it was the only one we looked at, and we made an offer that day), but now I can't even imaging NOT owing it.
I am fascinated by this style of buying houses! It sounds both wonderful and terribly inefficient! Our house is almost 60 years old at this point, and we anticipate it going strong for another 60.
It's sorta awesome. I hope you write more about it.
Thank you! I'm pretty fascinated, too. Apparently the government and people are trying to change it, so we shall see about the future. But for now . . . I get to choose EVERYTHING! Which may not actually be a good thing . . . . We shall see.
Perhaps building new houses so often is better in areas prone to earthquakes? My other friends who have bought houses have given me the impression that the process is horrible, but it sounds like it's actually been fun for you! More proof that it's the right time! Good luck.
