“You ready?”Asked Jun.

Aiba nodded his head excitedly. “Do it!”

“Watch carefully, okay?” Jun held his stance. With a jerked of his wrist, the pancake flew from the frying pan and landed again on its opposite side successfully. It received a fiery applause from Aiba.

“Do it again! Do it again!” He said.

Jun sighed. “But I’ve made 6 of them and you haven’t even eat one of it.”

“I’ll eat it, I promise. Please do it one more time.” Pleaded the older man as he tugged on the cook’s shirt.

“Speaking of..” Jun suddenly looked like he realized something and shot a glance at the sofa on the living room. “Ninomiya Kazunari! Will you stop playing already? You’ve been on that sofa for 10 hours already!” He screamed, though there was no response. So he put the cooked pancake on Aiba’s plate, and after making sure that he eat it, he walked closer to the living room.

He can see the animated movement on the TV screen of some man crawling with cardboard box card covering half of his body. As Jun was getting closer to the sofa, he can see long cord attached from the TV to the man’s ear that was slouching on the sofa.

So that’s why he didn't answer me, he thought.

Jun leaned over on the back of the sofa and pulled the headphones off the gamer’s head. The older man jerked with surprised. He quickly punched the ‘Pause’ button and turned around quickly. “What?”

Jun gritted his teeth. “Kazu, I have three things to say to you. One, I’ve told you million times lower the volume of your headphones. Two, I’ve told you million times too not to play video games all night long. And lastly, get your foot off the coffee table!!”

Nino cringed at Jun’s loud voice right next to his ear. But still, he didn't resist when Jun pulled him to the dining table and sat him next to Aiba. He put two slices of pancake and poured some syrup on it. He pushed the plate to Nino. “Eat.” He said in a commanding tone. He too sat on the chair next to Nino and ate his breakfast.

Jun took the newspaper on the counter table. He folded it into half and laid it on the table so he can read it while still holding his mug of coffee. Done eating, Nino cleared his plate and laid his head on the table, while one hand idly playing with Jun’s leather bracelet.

“Stop playing with my bracelet.” Said Jun, eyes still reading the headlines on the newspaper.

“I like playing with your bracelet.”

“Get you own.”

“I like yours better.”

“I’m not gonna let you wear it.”

“I know.”

They’ve had this conversation for hundreds of time. The exchanged words never change.

10 minutes later, Aiba is already begging for another pancake but Jun refused saying that he already used up all the batter. So Aiba asked if he could eat the one that Jun placed on the big plate on the counter.

“No,” The younger man said. “It’s for Sho.”

“Speaking of,” Nino looked at the clock hanging on their living room wall. “Shouldn't he be leaving for work now?” It’s 10 past 8. Sho should’ve been ready by now, but they haven’t seen him yet.

“He couldn't have possibily overslept, could he?”

“I’ll check on him.” Just as Jun was about to stood up, they heard a sound of someone running on the hallway screaming, “Masaki!!!”

Seconds later Sho came running to the kitchen half panting. His tie was loose and he barely wore his suits properly. His top buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned.

“What have you been doing? You’re late you know.” Said Masaki.

“I know. That's why I’m gonna need your bicycle. If I walk, I’m never gonna make it on time for my train.” Sho hold out his hand. “Keys.”

Aiba went to take his bicycle keys. Jun approached Sho and ran his hands through the newscaster’s hair, fixing his stood up hair. “Breakfast?” He asked.

“Loved to but I don't have the time. I’ll get something later on the convenience store.”“Did you overslept?” Nino asked him.

“No. It’s Satoshi.”

“Why? Is he okay? Is he sick?” Asked Aiba as he put the keys in Sho’s palm.

When Sho noticed that all three guys were watching him with worried look, he quickly brushed it off. “No, no, no! He’s okay. It’s just one of those days when he won’t let me off the bed.” He lifted his chin up so Jun can fix his buttons and tie. “He kept holding my shirt. And without even realizing it it’s almost 8. Do I smell okay? I don't think I showered properly.”

Jun smiled and kissed Sho on the cheek. “You smell fine.” He tapped his shoulder. “You’re all set. Now go.”

“Thanks.” He kissed the model back. “I promise I’ll return this! Bye, guys!” He waved and ran to the front door.

“Don't forget to lock it!!” Aiba reminded him.

Nino stretched up his arm and yawned. “Now. I’m gonna take Sho’s place and..”

“No you’re not. You got meeting in the office at 9.30 right? You should get ready too.” Jun picked up dirty plates and utensils from the table and dumped them in the sink to be cleaned later.

“How come you know my schedule?”

“Taguchi-san called me to make sure I remind you about it. Now hurry up and shower already.”

Nino groaned. “I feel like I got two managers.” But he lifted his body up to go to the shower anyway.

“Well, now that I have to walk to the station. I have to go now.” Aiba picked up his bag. “You got anything today?” He asked Jun.

“Yeah. Photoshoot at 10. Jin’s picking me up.”

“Right then. I’m off. See you tonight!” And in seconds Aiba was out the door.

After Aiba left, Jun washed the dishes and wiped the table clean. He looked at the small clock on the kitchen. He still got time to prepare lunch for Ohno. He decided to make some curry for the older man so he took out the chicken from the fridge.

“Don’t bother, Jun.”

He turned around to see Ohno standing on the hallway. He was still wearing the old T-Shirt that he always wears to sleep and his shorts. And he still had his pillow hair. “Did I make Sho late for work?”

Jun scoffed and pulled up a smile. “Kind of. You shouldn't do that to him.”

The painter scratched his head and chuckled. “I know. I won’t do it again.” He pulled a chair and sat on it.

“You don't want lunch?” Jun took a mug and poured Ohno some coffee.

Ohno shook his head. “I’m checking out the gallery for me and Tsuyoshi’s exhibition.”

“Oh, right. When was it again?”

“Two months from now.”

“It’s gonna be pretty busy, huh.” Jun noticed Sho’s untouched pancake. “Breakfast?” He offered to the other man. “Sho didn't eat his.”

“I’ll take it.”

“Sorry if it’s a bit cold.”

“No problem.”

Jun took a sit beside Ohno. “So you’re working on something now?”

“Yeah.” Ohno yawn. “I was awake until 3. Then I slept in Sho’s room.”

“You’re awake?” Nino came in and greeted them.

Jun took one look at Nino’s short pants and legging combination and rolled his eyes. “You’re going on a meeting, Kazu. At least put on some long pants!”

“I’m just a contributor writer, Jun. They wouldn't even mind.”

The model sighed. “If I were your editor, I would’ve fired you.”

“Well thank God you’re not my editor then.” Nino stuck out his tongue. He stroked Ohno’s chin while the older guy is busy chewing his pancake. “Bye, love. I’ll be back by 2.”

“But I won’t be home at that time. I’m going out to check a gallery with Tsuyoshi.”

“What? What about you, Jun? What time will you be back?”

“5 or 6 maybe. I’d probably be home the same time as Sho or Aiba.”

“Then who’s going to eat lunch with me?”

“Ask Taguchi-san.” Jun suggested.

“Pass.”

“Masaki?”

“His zoo is too far.”

“Sho?”

“He said he’ll be busy today. Oh, I know.” Nino pulled out his cellphone and grinned. “Shun-kun.” He text messaged the detective.

“Stop bothering him. He got work too, you know.” Jun took the plate handed by Ohno and washed it. He gave Ohno a napkin when noticing that the older man got a drip of maple syrup on his chin.

“It’s okay, he’ll probably got free time too today.” He flipped his phone closed and insert it to his pocket. “Right, I’m leaving. Oh, and Jun,” Nino turned on his heels. “I walked pass Aiba’s room. He didn't made his bed again.” He grinned wide. Jun just sighed in desperation. “See ya later, guys!”

They wave Nino goodbye. And once they heard the door shut close, Ohno raised from his chair. “I’m gonna take a shower. What time are you leaving?”

Jun glanced at his watch. “Jin should be here in a while. If you hurry up, I can ask him to drop you off at Tsuyoshi’s place.”

“That’s okay. I can go by myself. Besides, I’m not really in a hurry.” Ohno smiled, and two words popped into Jun’s head: my pace.

“Alright then. I’m gonna get ready too.” Said Jun.

Later, when Ohno was in the middle of a shower, Jun knocked on the bathroom door. He peeked inside just to tell Ohno that Jin has come to pick him up so he should be going now. Ohno said ‘Itterashai!’ to him from under the shower.

He’s already dressed and ready in 10 minutes. He searched for his cellphone and found it on Sho’s cabinet. Ohno texted Tsuyoshi saying that he’ll leave the house in a moment. Before leaving he went to the kitchen to grab a pack of juice and put it in his bag. He checked the gas range, the windows, and making sure to unplug unused electronic devices. And just as he thought, Nino had forgot to turn off his console and the TV. So he shut them off, and ready to leave.

Ohno’s set of keys are the only keys that’s left on the blue glass bowl that they put on the corridor. And so was his pair of shoes. He checked his watch one last time before leaving the house. And though there was nobody left in the house, he said ‘I’m leaving!’ anyway. Because that’s how his parents taught him too.

With two clicks that meant that the door is locked, the house was finally empty. The rooms that were filled with chatter and sound of people walking pass the wooden floor was now quite. The only thing that was left was a folded newspaper on the kitchen counter, a forgotten reading glasses on the cabinet in Sho’s room, a messy bed, an unfinished painting, and a still warm Nintendo Wii machine.
