This is one of those rare days where Aiba gets a day off on weekends. A full day off. But this is also one of those rare days where everyone seems to be busy with their own work and Aiba had no one to spend his day off with.

He woke up for breakfast, have a cup coffee that Jun poured for him and a bite of Sho’s toast. Ohno’s not with them because he was already gone hours ago to ride on the first fishing boat he can catch. And Nino is still asleep because well, it’s Nino. And in a few minutes, a kiss on the lips from Jun, two kisses from Sho (one on the lips and one on his forehead), and then they’re gone too after apologizing to him for leaving him on Saturday. Aiba done the dishes quickly because the water freezes his hand and then he walks to the couch.

Watching TV on Saturday when he got his day off is not what Aiba had in his mind. And waking Nino up to accompany him to go out is not a wise thing to do. So he continued to watch TV, or staring at the TV without really paying attention on what’s showing. Sitting on the sofa, knees bent, with blanket covering his back and chin resting on his knees.

Aiba started to feel sleepy because he was bored. The voice of the afternoon news announcer on the television starts to sheer away. His head fall to the side. But just when he starts to doze off, he was suddenly awakened with a shiver.

A sudden cold of wind seeps through the slightly opened sliding door that leads to their small backyard hit his skin. With a small grunt the boy turned the television off and threw the remote on the coffee table. He drags his socks covered foot on the cold floor to close the door. And then when his sight drops to the floor, he noticed it.

A long streak of light that falls on to the wooden floor and cuts through his feet. Aiba wiggled his toes inside his flashy fleece socks, feeling the warmth of it.

So after closing the veranda door, he opened the curtain slightly and let the sun shine on his face. Aiba smiled. And because he’s Aiba, the next thing to do would be lying on the floor, under the sunlight, and bathe himself in it. He pressed the side of his face to the floor that’s getting warmer by the second. Soon, his hair, his shoulder, his body, already felt warm. And he closed his eyes.

Nino thinks it was stupid of him to do that because even an eight year old would know that sleeping on the cold floor would get you sick. He crouched next to Aiba and patted his head. It was meant as a gesture to wake him up. But it ended up as a way for Nino to seek warmth. The warmth on Aiba’s hair, Aiba’s cheek, Aiba’s lips. And Nino wonders silently if the rest of his body is as warm as his face.

When Ohno steps into the living room, he almost called the ambulance when he saw his two lovers on the floor. Until he saw Nino’s head tucked safely in Aiba’s chest and their feet entangled together; Nino’s bare feet under Aiba’s socked covered one.

After putting away his fishing gear in the closet, he went upstairs and to get a blanket to covered them with.

Ohno looks at the clock hanging at the wall. 12 o’clock. There is still time.

So after opening the curtain just a little wider, Ohno laid the blanket over the two bodies, and then he slips underneath it too.

Jun can only fold his arms and pursed his lips at the sight in front of him. Or perhaps, under him. Then he turns to Sho who just shook his head as he placed a bag of fresh mandarin and apples on the kitchen table.

The youngest man asked what are they going to do about it to Sho. But the older man just gave him smile, and a tap on the shoulder. A wrinkle on Jun’s forehead is a sign that he doesn't understand. But when Sho walked to the veranda door, and placed one hand on the edge of the curtain, pulling it slightly, Jun lifted an eyebrow.

Sho stretched his hand out, gesturing at the direction of the space beside Ohno, where the sunlight casts more than the one on Nino’s side.

“After you.” Said the older man.
