Rota Vacation Part 3.......FINALLY

Jul 06, 2006 07:09

Okay, I've been so busy since I wrote part 2 of our vacation, so I've finally got some time to sit and write.

On our final day on Rota, we decided to have breakfast at the Pizzaria Bar & Grill, it would be a lot cheaper. It didn't open until 9am, so we had some time to do a little sightseeing before eating. Our plan was to go to the Tweksberry Beach where the palm trees grow in straight lines, and the Songsong overlook before eating. The view was gorgeous from the Overlook. We set up the tripod and took a few picturs of us with Wedding Cake Mountain behind us. After eating a great breakfast we then headed out to find the Latte Stone Village, and we never found it. The map we had wasn't any help this day. We did however, find this gorgeous fishing cliff. The water was this gorgeous blue and it crashed up against the cliff.....BEAUTIFUL! We must have spent a good 30 to 45 minutes there, taking pictures...and took a little video.

After that, we headed to the Swimming Hole, so we could take some more pictures and do some 'swimming'. I really wish we had taken our snorkeling gear with us to the island, but oh well. The water in the swimming hole was warm, and so clear we could see lots and lots of little fishes swimming in the hole. We spent quite a bit of time there relaxing. Then, we headed back to the hotel, to shower, pack out stuff, and check out of the hotel. We drove around for a few more hours, stopping to take some pictures of an old ship wreck and topping of the gas (at $3.95/gallon). I think we arrived at the airport about 4, maybe 4.30. Our flight didn't leave until 8.30, but we had literally run out of things to do. Paul turned the car in, and we sat around waiting for the ticket counter to open so we could check in. Finally, at 6, or a little after the ticket counter opened and we started the long process of checking in. We had to go through the entire rigamaroar (?) of not having our passports or proof of US citizenship again. That took a good amount of time, but finally we were all checked in and ready to head back to Guam. Around 7, maybe a little after we were finally allowed to go through security. That didn't take but about 15 minutes; they had to hand check out film so that it didn't have to go through the x-ray machine. We were boarding the plane and on our way back around 8, possibly before 8, and were back in Guam by 8.30. Yes, the flight was short.....and there were only 3 passengers on the plane, me, Paul and some kid. That was it!

It wasn't very hard to come back into Guam through immigration. The officer there was very friendly and understanding of our situation. We got home around 9.30. Emie, George and Nika (sp?) came and picked us up at the airport. :)
