I'm back! And I'm more tired than ever!
So two weeks ago (!) it was Thanksgiving at Daycare. T's teacher sang some cute songs that the toddlers in the class refused to have anything to do with. M2's class sang more songs, loudly, enthusiastically, and with great results. My facebook friends will have seen the videos, but I don't have a way to get them over to here. So you get a picture, and the words to the chorus of the best one...sung to the tune of Jingle Bells:
"Dinner Bells, Shotgun Shells, Turkey got away! What are we supposed to do on Thanksgiving Day?!"
So the following Sunday, we packed up as much as we could fit into two suit cases and three backpacks and we put ourselves on an airplane to Texas. For an entire week. I might have lost my mind when I thought that would be ok! It was a fun trip though. We stayed with the incredibly wonderful
andveryginger who lent us room in her house. For the entire week. Did I mention that she is a wonderful and fantastic friend?!
Our first day there, we went to the Houston Zoo! Yes, I am a zoo addict. And the Houston Zoo is very nice! I'd love to go back and explore more sometime! The animals were, of course, beautiful
And I learned a very important lesson. Always charge the camera before trips! And always bring the charger with you!! Maybe even a spare battery! This was the best of four pictures that I was able to take before we proceeded to lug a dead camera for the rest of the day. I do have two disposable cameras worth of pictures, but you know it's not going to be the same, AND I have to take them somewhere to develop them! The insanity! But rest assured, I now own a spare battery AND a spare charger. Now to just get myself a spare memory card and we will be in business!
After returning to our base of operations and charging the camera, I proceeded to not pull it out much the rest of the entire week. I did play some, though. I did not manage to get it out at Aunt Mickie's house (I'll blame the eggnog and my nephew's fight with the tree...both were highly distracting from the business of pictures!), but I did manage to take some pictures at Jarrod and Amy's.
See, there were lots of cousins there.
And lots of jumping fun.
And my boys LOVE their cousins!
After a fantastic Thanksgiving with my side of the family, we then proceeded to visit with M1's side. It was a really good visit! Again, I proceeded not to take my camera out as much as I probably ought to have, but I did get to play some.
M2 sporting his new Chewie shirt and the Storm Trooper helmet Aunt S gave him!
T trying the helmet on too...it just makes me want to bump it and see if it jiggles all around for 20 minutes.
And there was also much football playing.
And tackling too.
Overall, it was a really good trip. Just a bit too long for my tastes (M1 and I decided we're very much homebodies now!) and ruined a bit by upper respiratory viruses for M2, T, and myself, T having an upset tummy repeatedly the night before Thanksgiving and the resulting numerous loads of laundry, and our credit card being maxed out by some schmuck in VA Beach the day before we came home. Yes. I am VERY glad to be home. Though with the number of people at my office vanishing with swine flu, I'm thinking maybe I'm not as ready to be back as I thought!!!
And one last little bout of pictures...
Two years ago today this guy:
looked like this:
Happy Birthday, little man! I love you!
