Goal: Achieved

Jan 19, 2013 21:28

I know I've been a bit quiet lately -- in pretty much the same way that ghost towns are quiet -- but that's because I haven't really had anything to say. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and that 2013 brings you all lovely things ( Read more... )

Congratulations, Terie!! It's so good to hear that your goal has been achieved-my own battle continues.
Spring will undoubtedly bring even greater results. Were you a biker; I ask because of your book. Me? I never was an athlete, more of a person that loved to ride horses and walk.
Happy to hear your hols were pleasant.

Thanks!

And I used to be a long-distance cyclist. My favourite distance was 200 miles, but my left knee stopped being able to do more than about 60at once more than a decade ago. I raced (as an amateur, of course) for a year, but I didn't like racing. So yeah, that's where Changing Gear came from. Oh, and I couldn't ride 10 miles right now, much less 60. :-)

Hot diggety and congratulations! Goals achieved are always great.

I was down 10 pounds and increasing the bike miles per day until I got sick on Christmas Day and lost 3 weeks of exercise to lung congestion--haven't weighed, don't even want to know, and am just now getting back on the bike and slowly increasing distance again. (Faster than before, though.)

Thanks. And you probably already know this, but just in case you don't: getting fitness back takes less time than getting there in the first place. I daresay that's what you're already noticing, whether you knew it to be a known fact or not. :-D

Congratulations! I think most of us, even the active types, all reach a point where we have to take off some pounds. Good for you! Of course, your blog entry made it sound easy..... :-))

Thanks! It wasn't easy, but it wasn't as hard as I expected, either. I don't know how much of that can be attributed to the program I chose (Atkins -- in its current form, not in its old form), how much to my tenaciousness (once I decide to do something, I'm very stubborn about sticking to it...in this case, it just took a long time to get to that point), and how much to it just being easier than I expected. Maybe some combination of all three.

Now for the next challenge: Changing my eating habits enough to keep it off! I've never lost weight before, so I don't know how hard this will be for me.

Hooray! And good for you.

It's hard to get in shape, but it's nice to be there.

Thanks! And I'm not in shape yet, nowhere near. But I'm in a better position to get there than I was 6 months ago. :-)
