Today's Olympics

First I want to say that I'm extremely impressed with any athlete who makes it to the Olympics. All of them worked hard, trained hard and devoted a great deal of time to succeed and make it to these games and represent their respective countries. I am looking forward to watching the curling. ^___^ UNIRONICALLY, TOO, as I got into it on a visit to Toronto, watching a local curling league play in St Catherines. <3 I even understand the rules -- well, as much as I understand the rules of cricket, which is to say mostly. XD

They'd been reporting the whole lack of Canadian Gold during Canadian Olympics thing down here. To me it was just a weird fluke since Canada is pretty strong at the winter sports! But it's nice to have that little worry out of the way with the Freestyle win, I'm sure.

I love watching the Winter Games, and I've been enjoying these so far, despite fatal luge practice run, protests about the cost and annoying el nino weather conditions! Vancouver is a lovely city--I hope it ends up benefiting from it all. (There was a rather sad article in the L.A.Times about how Beijing's Birds Nest arena is turning into something of a white elephant as it's having a hard time getting used... ah, well.)
