i must really be at rock bottom to have watched those shows and to have ranted about them here.
i turn on the TV and there's this telenovela on. it's HIRAM. i watch it. i watch it again the next day, and the day after that.
is it THAT engaging? no. it's just so absurd.
here's the gist of what i was able to get from the show.
girl A and boy A are in love. they are about to get married. however, girl A has this bad heart condition. girl A decides to keep it a secret from boy A. however, girl A's heart condition worsens, and she decides to go to the states with boy B - a (previous? i'm still not sure up to now.) suitor of girl A - to go to heart experts there. of course, girl A goes a day before (or something like that) girl A and boy A's formal engagement party. the party progresses and girl A doesn't show up. of course, she's in the states with boy B. imagine how that looks like to boy A.
when girl A and boy B finally return, they do not tell anybody the reason of their trip to the states. not even poor boy A. now, girl A and boy B are supposed to get married, but they don't love each other. boy A has a hunch that girl A and boy B aren't really in love.
complicated, huh? now that's what i call making life difficult.
and i didn't even include girl B - girl A's cousin who likes boy A and is trying to steal boy A from girl A.
the show's been airing for over a year now, and it's not even finished yet! PLEASE MAKE IT END SOON!
of course, if it's in ABS, it's also in GMA. there used to be this koreanovela on GMA 7 entitled FULL HOUSE.
gist: somehow, girl A gets "married" to boy A - a movie star. i think it's because she had a debt or something, and boy A had to pay for it. i'm not sure. anyway.. the marriage was one of "convenience" because boy A wanted to get a household helper anyway and make the girl he really likes jealous. it's like hitting two birds with one stone, right? wrong.
girl A becomes like boy A's household help - doing his chores, laundry, etc.boy A succeeds in making girl B - the girl he likes - jealous. by that time, girl A is already in love with boy A. boy A isn't sure about his feelings for girl B anymore. then, boy B enters the scene. he loves girl A and wants her to marry him. boy A gets crazy jealous. lots of fights and confusing episodes occur.
to cut a loong story short, boy A also falls in love with girl A, but boy A's parents want them to separate. there are lots tears shed, but in the end, they get married.
whew. i bet you didn't see that one coming! :P
