Interesting, but... not_entirely February 5 2010, 03:20:32 UTC
Anakin was considered to be too old because Jedi are trained from infancy. The main problem with older children is their insistence on believing certain things are impossible. This is made clear in Empire. Also, the fact that the Jedi refuse to train a nine year-old because he is too OLD is interesting, since in traditional hero stories, the problem is the potential trainee being too young. I agree Jake Lloyd was annoying as fuck, but he had to be extremely young, especially to make the trauma of losing his mother even worse. I personally think Anakin should have been younger in the second movie - more of a young teen; this would also help in showing how much he'd grown from 2 to 3 aside from gaining a mullet. I mean, the amount of time between the second and third episodes is supposed to be like, two years. That makes the Clone Wars seem a lot less epic. I would have rather it have been ten years or something ( ... )

1. If they could have at least lowered the age of Amidala it would have made a bit more sense. I mean I still refuse to buy that Anakin went from ten to seventeen in two years. It makes no sense ( ... )
