I just don't get why intelligent design and Darwinism have to be at odds. Why do people think that God had to create all creatures exactly as they are? Why couldn't he have created a being that is equipt with genetic variability so that it can improve itself over time? Who's to say that god doesn't directly influence the environments that populations grow in, thus guiding evolution's progress itself? As for Darwin saying racist things...Well he doesn't have to be right about every detail to be right about The general idea. And claiming in a pro-Religion argument that Darwinism is dangerous because it can be used to support racism? Total logical fallacy. Religion has been used to justify racism for much longer than Darwinism has. And that's not to say that Religion and Darwinism are both inherently bad, but instead to say that any ambiguous enough idea can be used for evil in the wrong hands.
