Saturday I awoke to my calves being very mad with me for the previous night, but a helpful massage takes care of most of it. I admit I can’t remember a lot of specifics that day, but there (and this whole con) there was barely a minute when I wasn’t doing something, or talking with someone. Much of the afternoon is taken up by doing the fursuit parade. I hadn’t intended to do it this time, but was talked into it the previous night by
firestormsix. I’m still pretty reserved because all those cameras are still a little intimidating at first, but I do get in a couple bits of silliness. Thanks
ziabandito555 for being my guinea pig. Also too bad there wasn’t anyone around when I plastered myself up against the window to the pool to try and get in, but the person swimming seemed to get a kick out of it. There’s a lot of waiting around and I get into a group shot with FirestormSix and some of his other creations here. After supper a couple of us hit the pool for a little while, and I get to play in the pool which is nearly empty. Wheeeee!
I go to the dance again that night, and go for something like 1.5 to close to 2 hours, taking only one 10 minute break. Yes, you could say I am enjoying this. I eventually stop because I’m starting to get a headache and feel weak, and that’s really not a good sign. Then again, maybe if I space a few more breaks I can do better next time.
Shower and go back down to get a drink from the con suite/Den. I check out how the dance is going and spend the next two hours slowly trying to move towards the con suite as I keep meeting people and taking to them. I find out drinks are done for the evening, but I don’t care that much. I last until maybe 1:30AM but have to call it a night because I’m not feeling that good (Stomach and head). Probably overdoing it at the dance.
Sunday is a lot more sedate, but I see a few things and a few more people. At this point my calves are VERY angry with all this dancing crap that’s been going on. Good-bye supper was very tasty, but people are starting to leave and my mood is starting to come down a bit. Catch another friend and head over to their supper at the RAM, so I can get a few drinks (guys, it WASN’T as expensive as you thought). Have a total blast there. Most of the time can be summed up by the one acronym: LMAO!
Get back and do a small run in suit, hoping to catch the dead dog, fail, and wander a bit. Two close friends come up (who apparently know each other too as I find out) to the room and we chat well into the night. All of a sudden its 4:30AM and we have to go, but I’m no longer feeling any post-con depression as spending time like this is what makes me so happy.
The day after is some goodbyes to people in the lobby. Zia finds that they are giving out the excess room cards from the con and I score a complete set. The rest of the day is a fairly quiet one visiting
shaleari. I guess it would have been nice to do a little sightseeing, but maybe next time. I was still recovering that day, so its doubtful I could have been on my feet too long.
So yes, its hard to say if it was “best…con…evar.” But you know, its in the running. There are still at least 3 people I wished had come this year, and a few regrets, but you know what, I’d still not trade this con for anything.
I’m really interested to see what happens at FC now.
P.S.>> Sadly the suit took some damage. Two teeth on the zipper popped off (thankfully low enough to not be much problem), and it appears the silver on the paws doesn’t really stand up at all to use, but it should still be fine for a couple cons. The only thing that worries me is the lanyard for my badge was wicking a lot of sweat and started to bleed into the white fur. I’ll see what I can do, but if it could leach out with sweat, then the dyes should be fairly soluble. Hints are welcome. I may need to also put a pad over the tailbase inside as there was some wear on my undergarments.
PPS> The hotel did a much better job this year, and that we were able to use the one restaurant space that was no longer in use as a con suite was very very nice. Maybe when a con moves there is a “break in” time where the hotel and the attendees need to adapt to the new circumstances, and the get-together isn’t so good that year. This does worry me a little about Further Confusion’s move, but, then again, as I reminded myself before I left…
