Hey, totes unrelated to your post but I wanted to let you know I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you. I'm out of town this weekend and there's just no way I'm making it out there tonight or tomorrow. Give Dom hugs from me, though.

Question, you being more techno-friendly than I: Cormac is offering me a 2 year old Dell monitor, 17" rather than have me go out and buy the $160 Samsung on sale at Best Buy. Thanks to changing technology and whatnot, should I just suck it up and buy new? I know a lot of people recommend updating stuff like monitors and what not every two years.

Well, I'm sure the 17" is fine. If you need 19 or bigger the new one will be lighter and take up less space. My 19" crt is a monster, but still 1/2 the weight of the one it replaced (that blew out in June)

Are you playing games on it? CRT's are still better at fast moving video, and better at the color black. Other than that a screen is a screen; hard to judge without lookng at it in use.

I'm sorry - I should have mentioned it's a flatscreen, or was that sort of implied? Do they even make anything other than flatscreen anymore?

Hmph you kids. I'm still getting used CRTs from the fleamarket.

Dell makes a good flatscreen, unless you are like me and need both a lot of screen realestate AND large fonts the 17 will be fine.
