I've basically gone cold turkey from tumblr. The entire site is not conducive for communication and I feel quite invisible and depressed over there. I moseyed over there at first because it seemed to be for more frivolous stuff without the limits of twitter and that I wouldn't be clogging up people's friends pages if I wanted to make a post about

With you there! Tumblr is so useless for back and forth communication without like twelve different plugins to make it worthwhile.

I've got all those million add ons to help, but even with the ability to show interest in things with a single click, I feel like I'm talking to nobody over there. It's a very isolating website because it encourages skimming and with how haphazard it is people miss things very easily.

Ahhhh, I see what you mean. My feed is basically filled up with the same 10 people of however many I'm following in total, anyway, so unless you're posting frequently, you can be overlooked quite often.

Haha thanks. I didn't really leave, I just moved personal posts to tumblr. They'll all be back here now.

Another person who is still here!! I recently drew away from tumblr for the same reasons, I also found that on the whole it encouraged a very unhealthy mind set. Glad to see you back on LJ x

It is actually a pretty messed up place, not in just the fact that the website itself is an inch away from being unusable (and people think LJ is confusing to use??) without a million add-ons, but there's a lot of misinformation and just weird unhealthy ideas and things that spread so quickly around there and people sort of compile themselves into very unhealthy states of mind that people on the site seem to support and encourage. So I think I know what you mean.

I never liked tumbler, mostly because it seems so impersonal. Glad to see you back.

It's very impersonal and there's a lot of bad ideas and misinformation floating around and all in all it's not a friendly or healthy community. Lj was always better, but tumblr is so popular now
