Has anybody watched the Birds and liked it?  If so, please explain the ending.  It left me very unfulfilled...there's nothing that remotely resembles closure...

Work's still good.  Andy and I are in the process of moving into our new apartment in Wheaton.  And oh yeah, Ellie comes home tomorrow! =D  I'm excited.  A month is a long time, especially ( Read more... )

it's supposed to be eerie and spooky and make you realize that maybe, man can't do it all. in interviews, hitchcock talks about wanting to grab the audiences attention and do something unexpected. and sucking you into a world where for awhile you actually believe that birds have taken over kind of works to do just that.

ps though, for effects and angles and stuff it's great. but as far as plotline and story and effects put together - check out rear window and notorious.

I suppose it did accomplish that, then. It was certainly unexpected.
And yes - I saw the first few minutes of Rear Window while my roommates had it on a few months ago, but then I had to leave, so I plan to watch that too at some point.

I love THE BIRDS. It's one of my favorite movies.

And I have to agree with Shoot the Moon's comment on the eerie-factor. Keep in mind, that, at that moment, the family was entirely at the mercy of the birds, and, for whatever reason, the birds spared them. At any moment, the flocks could have turned on the family and visciously peck them to death. It's supposed to be humbling to be again at nature's mercy. Nakid and defenseless.
