Here comes the sun!!!
Have felt "blah" this week; seems like nothing I eat really settles well. Does that stop me from eating? Quite the contrary. "Oh, if my belly's going to hurt after eating an egg, I believe I'll have some bacon and a biscuit, too." Meet with the surgeon on Monday; hope they are able to get this done quickly, as May is going to be crazy at work and it would be really inconvenient to be out for a few days during May or close to it.
I've been getting endless stories and advice this week from people 40 and up...it would appear that, in my circles at least, it's just a matter of time after you turn 40 before you're getting your gallbladder removed. Here is a sampling of things I've been told this week by people who have either a) had their gallbladder removed, or b) intimately know someone who has.
--You'll be able to eat anything you want now!
--You won't be able to eat anything now.
--You'll have diarrhea all the time.
--You're always going to be constipated.
--You'll never be able to eat onions again. (The prospect of this strikes fear in my heart!!!)
--You'll never be able to eat lettuce again. (I love lettuce, but there have been numerous times in my life that it's hated me. This is one of those times.)
--You're going to have so much more energy!
--You'll be tired all the time.
--You'll never be able to eat at "Pizza Hut" again. (wtf?!?)
So, I'm finding that life sans gallbladder is a highly individualized experience.
Going to a ballgame this afternoon. The season opened this past Thursday, but I was feeling lousy by the time I got off of work, it was rainy, and Mom was not feeling well either, so we bagged it. Today will be a much better game day.
Oh another high note, just had a postal carrier ring the doorbell with a package from
fusis, an amazing print of Chicago that is going to look awesome framed and hung on the wall in my office. It has made my day!!!
