My God, if we all install 100 of these ice cream cone light bulbs our nation can go off the grid entirely, we'll be self sustained just from light bulb energy savings!

Is one light bulb in my apartment 1% of my energy usage? Yes. There are 110 million people, if we all cut our energy usage by 1% then yes, we will save enough energy for .01*110million = 1.1 million homes. Not saying that fluorescent bulbs aren't a good switch, but there are plenty of ways to cut your home energy usage by more than 1% that ought to be considered(start with your thermostat).

Hehe, "And you could reduce your energy savings by 1% w00t" sounds a little less dramatic than a million homes doesn't it.
