Montage

I remember back in 2008 I was commuting home on the train when I envisioned travel montage on a New Zealand or Australian adventure set to the song I was hearing on my iPod. As my train speed through the various cities en route to San Francisco, I pretended I was watching a foreign landscape zoom by. The daydream awakened the wanderlust in me and ( Read more... )

Thats so awesome you thought about it one day and just made it happen! Did you go by yourself?

Yup. It would have been difficult to get someone else to go, but more so if I had waited, it might not have happened. While I would have preferred company, it was a rewarding experience having pushed myself out there to do it alone.

That's the same way I decided to do my cross country bike trip 34 years ago. I knew that if I waited to find someone to do it with that I might never do it. I figured that I'd eventually run into other people along the way and sure enough, I was by myself for two weeks and then happened upon a small group, some of whom finished the journey with me.

Well, being a bit of an introvert at times, it was a good experience to push myself out there. I meet a few people along the way, so I wasn't necessarily alone, but that's not to say it didn't get a little lonely. In the end, I do not regret doing it.

I was never one to have a big, sit down slide show with people cause no one but those who were on the trip enjoy that. Nor am I a big fan of just saying "oh, here's a link to the 190 photos and 10 hours of video I took!" Now that its easier to put video up on the web, Ive decide that the montage approach seems to be the way to go. Anything larger than a few minutes won't get watched, and I think if someone's interested past the montage to see more, then sure, I've got my pictures up on the web. Anywho, the whole point of my little TERRAPLANNER video series is short films that keeps with our increasingly short attention span, but gets my creative side out (not to mention hours of video footage).
