a personal look at Black Friday

Black Friday was actually Saturday for me here in Hong Kong; I woke up to Twitter, my IMs, and my phone going crazy before I'd even had a chance to make coffee. Now it's 10 PM here and my day is winding down just as poker players in North America are realizing that sadly, yesterday was not a bad dream ( Read more... )

US PokerStars Players - a thing of the past? anonymous April 18 2011, 01:00:02 UTC
Great post, but here's my two cents. I hate the UIGEA that G.W. Bush singed in 2006 and I think that Stars/FTP/Absolute fought a good fight with the lobbying and organization of the PPA, but that doesn't give any offshore company the right to circumvent the laws of a nation no matter how passionate one feels about it. If I drive in TX and can do 80mph what gives me the right to think I can drive that speed in a state that says 55mph. Do I deserve a speeding ticket or is it okay because I'm from an 80mph state? Stars had a huge influx of players when the true number one online poker room 'PartyPoker' gracefully and unfortunately closed its doors to honor and respect the US law and pay fines that they did not agree with ( ... )

ok so if i do something that has a disclaimer that clearly states i will be in trouble for doing something illegal...and i do it blatantly because i feel i am above the law...and then i get busted...i have to be a man and accept responsibility....you guys sound just like drug dealers who got arrested for possession and are crying that its your right (even tho its illegal and u knew )
can anyone find a difference between the online gamblers in the states , and crack dealers getting caught with crack? i mean when they find a crack dealer they can do forensic accounting and make them pay back the proceeds of crime, i dont see anything whatsoever different from making every american online poker player owe the government every penny they have made illagaly...i actually EXPECT them to just on the basis of principle of precedence...if not, i say drug dealer class action lawsuit against the united states for being prejudice!!

Who's John Galt? ext_254556 April 21 2011, 03:44:48 UTC
I appreciate that you live in HK. I am strongly considering moving there, Singapore, NZ, AUS, or Canada. This is just another drop in an already overflowing bucket. Not will online poker never be the same - the US, as a country, I am afraid will never return to its founding principles. It will continue to slide down and stagnate into the annals of history as the country that began free and descended into tyranny.

So again - Who's John Galt?

Has anyone been able to cash out since Black Friday? My cash out request was rejected without explanation.
