Dragon Dreams

He slumbers deep within his lair, his fires banked so that the barest wisp of smoke coils lazily from his nostrils. The Palantir rests above him on a rocky ledge, cold and dark as a globe of onyx, sleeping perhaps itself; but wait, all is not quiescent within that darkling orb. If any were there to see, to dare to peer into those inky, clutching ( Read more... )

Loki appears in the lair, the Long Cleeve beside him. "Well, that ended up taking longer than I-...." he paused and looked closer at Smaug. "..expected. Smaug?"

His long jaws twitch, perhaps in response or perhaps merely in the measure of his dreaming. He lies as still as one dead, or turned to stone.

Loki just stares at Smaug for a moment. "Oh just effing perfect. I waste all that time getting here and when I finally do? He's out stone cold. Bloody dragon..."

He then shrugs to himself and walks closer to the dragon's head before shouting directly in Smaug's ear, "HEY! THAT HOBBIT, BAGGINS, IS HERE STEALING YOUR HOARD! WAKE UP, YOU!"

If that wasn't enough, he also proceeded to poke Smaug rather obstinately with the end of one of his knives, knowing it wouldn't actually -hurt- the dragon.

GRRRRROOOOWHZZZZIJK?!!

His head whips around, jaws open and eyes red as blood; then he seems to recognise you and the great maw snaps shut like a metal trap, bare inches from your head.

Loki!! What are you doing here? You must be the Trickster God indeed, if you can sneak so close without my noticing! Although... hmmm... I do seem to have been sleeping rather deeply... He senses instinctively the passage of time, and is secretly perturbed.

*Rumbling in his throat*
Perhaps I have you to thank for waking me, in which case I shall not be angry that you came here unannounced. I was... err... that is, I am no longer indisposed. Has Diamond finally arrived? He swings his head about the cave, snuffing for Hobbit scent. I do not sense her presence...

Be back to it tomorrow }:=8) Not waiting on anything except me! (Although hoping Mr Morden will be joining us soon... along with various trouble makers so Loki should be in for a wild ride!) I can't get to post quite so often as some people but don't worry, there won't be another long absence like the previous time.

Okity. Suppose I ought to warn you, then, that I'm going home for spring break tomorrow sometime and may or may not be on the computer for the next week or so.

I've seen what's happened on Smaug's end, yes, and bits and pieces of it elsewhere.
