NEW Version of OLD Ghost in the Shell movie coming.

I'm torn.

I have fond memories of going to see the original version of this film at the Star John R theatre way back in 1995 when it had its limited run. It was the first anime I'd ever seen in the theatres (alas, I was too young and unaware when the seminal--and vastly overrated--Akira had its epoch-making run) and man, did it look great. By the way, (in case you didn't already know) McGlynn voices one of the royal Britannians in Code Geass. It caught me off guard because I watched a whole episode without noticing it... Then McGlynn's character had an angry, shouting scene, and suddenly, there was the Major, chastising Batou for using natural oil in the Tachikomas.

Nice. She's been in other anime that I'd watched a long time ago as more background characters that I never picked up on until years later after watching 52 episodes of SAC.

I have not, as of yet, watched any Geass.

I'd say start with the Ghost in the Shell TV series. You can get the seasons for less than $50 a piece now if you watch and wait over at The Right Stuf International. That's where I buy all of my anime these days. Try the "Weekly Specials." I haven't paid retail for the stuff in years.
