Awesome post! Seriously. A very cogent discussion of an issue too often dismissed by ignorant folks.

You might really like the book "Romantic Jealousy" by Ayala Pines. Let me know if you want to read it and can't find it, I will lend you my copy.

Also, David Buss has research on what he terms "human mate poaching." I love it, not only for the fact that he uses the phrase "human mate poaching." Maybe of interest to you as well.

Human ethology has sort of become my hobby. Actually a member of ISHE and have attended their conferences. Because spending vacation time on academic conferences is a blast. (The geek in me is strong.) Not familiar with either of those, but now they're ordered.

And thank you for the compliment -- it means a lot.

that was a simply AWESOME read ... I know of people who could benefit, and if you don't mind, I would like to borrow this and share it with a friend of mine who is about to ruin his marriage AND poly situation by being a stupid fucktard ( ... )

Share away, darling! As long as you include the disclaimer at the end. This is a public post, so no need to hide things. I've been outed enough, that the closet is sort of pointless.

You are such a sweet and lovely man. Although I'd also gladly watch you betray your nature and hold dude accountable. ;)

we're supposed to meet up Friday for some beers and conversation ... his text to me was "I think I screwed up" so the conversation should be interesting ... if he has gotten to the point of actually saying that, he may have gone so far into the abyss there is no recovery ... we shall see

and you still have an open winery date coupon you have yet to cash ... fortunately for you, you were given it with no expiration date

perhaps later in the fall when the leaves are turning? I'd love for you to see how wonderful it is there during that time

I love you so much, this is great. You really do have a way with words. I appreciate the envy vs jealousy division. I've explained jealousy to people and the look on their face was total confusion. I'll speak to the envy piece to the next time I have that conversation with someone, I think it will help.
