FFFFFF HI. You go to UW, which I totally wanted to start at this year, but I had to stay home and go to a community college for a year for financial reasons! (I live in Maryland.) Hopefully I will be transferring next fall, or I might have to commit sepukku. Um, I am friending you because you seem like an awesome person and I trust my friends' judgments. :D My intro post which is always under construction because I don't have the attention span to actually finish it.
ksldlks Hey! That is actually really, really, crazy; I grew up in Maryland! You should absolutely transfer to the UW, it'll be my first year there but I am kind of half in love with the school already. IIII can't promise I'm actually cool (Cait seems to overestimate my awesomeness), but I am always excited to meet people and you seem pretty cool from your intro post!
Wow, that's... almost creepy. XD It's a small world. My mom moved here when I was like three and a half, so I've lived in Hagerstown for most of my life with summer visits to Alaska. I went to visit Seattle last Spring break and it was so amazing. Haha, I'm also friends with Courtney and Monica, so I'm banking that you're legit. :D
Well, incoming says you are one of her favorite people and so recced you to me here, and after reading the above mentioned entry I'd love to get to know you better. So...may I add you? I prefer to ask rather than just say I am, lols. Habitual thing, so forgive. :)
Well Cait always seems to overestimate my coolness - I am actually really nerdy and kind of boring, but if you don't mind that then sure, let's be friends! (I actually prefer when people ask first, too - I mean, any comment is better than just randomly friending someone, but I'd still rather be asked, you know? :))
and here is Gin-san trying to attract attentiontreatOctober 17 2008, 17:02:38 UTC
We have only a billion things & friends in common but most importantly, G-Gintama!! Maybe I am alone in my stance on this but I believe Gintama doesn't even need a fandom for it to be great. It's like an elite society--only a chosen few can truly appreciate its humor and not-even-all-that-subtle social criticism. But then again I tend to be a person who overanalyzes things and gets a real kick out of it.
And on the election front, the third party candidates are having a fiesta on my campus this very Sunday. It'd be nice to talk to someone about politics without getting a i can has cheezeburger macro in response. Everytime. As if that is the be-all end-all of American politics. (it just might, actually. Who am I kidding?!)
it's cool, i like it!terrorcandyOctober 18 2008, 04:56:56 UTC
fffff I was just watching stupid Gintama fanvids on the internet and feeling sad that I don't have more friends into the series. I don't know if it's clever humor or if it's just really, really stupid humor and I just have bad taste, but Gintama just like my favorite series ever; I just adore that it's a story about a guy with a really miserable past who fought for something and lost and then said "okay, that didn't work out... now what?" and then like moved on and yet it DOESN'T TAKE ITSELF EVEN SLIGHTLY SERIOUSLY and klsjdfkl god don't even get me started :(((((
would u like a booger prizetreatOctober 18 2008, 05:46:08 UTC
See, that's the thing. Everyone in Gintama has some kind of dark past or skeletons in the closet but they don't BROOD over it like a certain Uchiha or Mr. Strife. They move on, carry on their otherwise joyless lives by acting retarded, beating each other up, etc. And I think that's the message behind the humor--there's so much in life you have to look forward to, so why spend it dwelling in the past? The few instances that they do have to face their pasts make for really powerful moments in the series, I think.
Kay. Teal deer, I love this series so much. How far are you in the series?
Sob, see, yeah, this. It seriously makes me so sad when people don't like the series because it's stupid and pointless, I am just like but guys.... a lot of times life is stupid and pointless, but it can also be a lot of fun! This is like Ruroni Kenshin, only with less guilt and more barf jokes!! But I don't know, I also generally love the serious parts the best - give me that scene with Kondou crying in the train car in the Itou arc any day of the week, or maybe the last episode of the Benizakura arc, because I don't know that I'll ever feel this way about another series ever again. /nonsense
I am pretty much keeping up with Rumbel's releases; Gintama is a series I don't really feel competent to watch RAW (also the delayed releases ensure I don't hole myself up watching anime all day - v. important!!), and while every now and then I have nitpicks Rumbel has been pretty consistently good, I think. I skipped ahead and watched Mitsuba and Itou arcs, though, possibly because, you know, I don't sob enough already. ._____.
