Also it's probably not connected at all that Gaelyn called me on Monday to tell me about a sweet job interview she has. Because in my head, she's getting tired of Portland very soon and will come back to work with me. But I think that's not actually true, unfortunately.
It's frustrating to be put in a situation where your good will and good nature are constantly being taxed to the point of overexertion. Speaking as someone who has dealt with chronic pain, I really don't think it excuses not being willing to pitch in more; offering to help goes a LONG way to making someone feel appreciated and valued.
And it's hard when you used to have a good environment, where you know that it was a give-and-take relationship, and now it's not that way. For your sake, I hope they at least acknowledge that you've taken all of this on and are doing your best to accommodate them. But you definitely have grounds to feel annoyed...I'm annoyed for you just reading this!
