Wow When Did I get so busy
So I have been and will be incredibly busy (at least by my standards lately). This weekend will mark the third straight weekend in which I'll not be at home. So I thought I'd give a brief overview of what I've been up to lately.
Two weekends ago (17th-19th) I went up to Mt. Washington with my family and stayed at our friends the Silvers condo on the mountain. Had a great time, my friends Mike and Rob Taylor came up for Saturday and it was great to be back on the slopes after a two year hiatus due to last years completely disappointing lack of snow. Rob had never skied before and we took him down some pretty hard runs, he was quite the sport, if it had been me I probably would have lost it, thrown my skis down the mountain and vowed never to ski again LOL. While we were up there we saw some of my family's oldest friends and had a good time with them, lots of air hockey fun in the evenings plus I had my computer so got in a couple good TA games. On the way home stopped by my grandparents place in Qualicum for lunch which is always nice.
That week I had to write two papers and worked both Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday was my first ever 11PM-3AM shift in the Clearihue lab, it was nice and quiet so it wasn't that hard but it really feels odd looking at the clock and seeing 3:00 and I'm still at work. I also went to a UVSS board meeting on the Tuesday, man they're boring and deal with trivial matters. Also spent quite a bit of time preparing for Seattle and on Thursday I loaded up in Brock's car and headed down. I described Seattle in my previous post so I won't do it here. Got back Sunday night, stayed up for a little while catching up on the computer, went to bed. Monday was school and work. Tuesday school, another 3AM shift plus another UVSS board meeting. This time it was much more interesting because they were deciding who'd become the next chairperson but it took forever and in the end virtually the entire board left. To quote the UVSS's lawyer "what was up with that, they spent all that time going on and on and then they all abstained." Work was nice and quiet and I get Clearihue's ridiculously complicated closing procedures down pat. Tonight (Wednesday) played some Axis and Allies with Devon and Rob, Devon and me were trying to attack Rob and he kicked our asses. Went to DQ afterwords for a Blizzard then came home and read some of my book on the Iraq war. Then wrote this and then I'm going to bed. Tomorrow other then class I actually don't have anything scheduled definitively but I'm planning on putting in an appearance at anime club and maybe having another A&A game. Also apparently Kelly is interesting in giving it a shot which is good, it's a fun game the more people the better especially considering the fact that Rob's been all conquering lately ;) Friday it's off the a Liberal Policy convention in Campbell River which will go on until Saturday so I should get home Saturday night. I wasn't going to go but two of my friends, Matt and Tom will both be there so it will be fun to hang out with them. Sunday = work, Monday = Work and School. After that I don't have anything planned other then the fact that I have a couple of essays to do, a test to write and then four exams during the exam period. ARGH.
Now I'm sure some people reading this are saying bah I'm this busy all the time. But the thing is I never have been. I had a while there where I'd go weeks without doing anything other then work and school. This whole year however I've been far better then I've ever been before and while I tend to prefer it this way it does take some getting used to. For example Monday Dyanna sent me a message asking when I was free to do something. I was going to reply with my usual "whenever you are" answer and then I realized that I'd be lucky to have one night free this week. It's just a weird feeling. Also in the last week I've maybe talked to my dad for about ten minutes even though we live in the same house, I literally did not see him for three straight days before today. On the agenda I need to go buy some more clothes and I'd really like to go up to Nanaimo to see Mike and according to Dyanna I need to show Felicia who the real champ is at Air Hockey (:P) and I want to play more A&A and I want to play more Hunter and I am really looking forward to Brock's vampire game so I got lots of things on my plate which is nice because it means I have friends to do things with. I just need to get used to being busy.
