Be assured you are in my prayers. Several years ago we had ice storms that took out a large part of Central Kentucky (including us). We were without power for 8 days (fortunately we are good Scouts around here and had sufficient camping equipment to manage,) in the middle of winter. A blessing that it is warmer now, but perhaps not too much of one. I use a CPAP machine and the power going off is what woke me. Nothing like feeling like you are suffocating to get your attention.
Tornadoes and thunderstorms periodically take out the power to the traffic lights here and I know exactly what you mean! Not everyone seems to understand that you treat dead lights like 4-way stops!
You have nice friends!
My sincerely sympathies for that student and her family.
Wow, just wow. I cannot conceive what it is like to live in such a place where you have to appreciate the force that is Mother Nature and its consequences on an annual basis.
Good luck to all of you and sympathies to those who have lost loved ones or everything.
