Still in mid move, half packed. I decided to hire someone rather than rent or borrow a truck and chain-gang my friends on a weekend, still have to get landline changed. One of the others decided to move out, so I'm waiting for all tht to be done. It's just as well, as she sells Girl Scout cookies or her daughter ( Read more... )

Your moving woes make me remember the last time we moved ourselves. Told hubby to add to the list for which he would be divorced - #1 now reads: Ever again moving ourselves in a rented truck. It's professionals or divorce! #2 through #4 read: Shaving off his beard, abuse and infidelity! Hope it all works well for you. Sympathize about acid reflux. I take Rx omeprazole daily.

It will be a test run for the home move---I'm going to seriously consider having them PACK the apartment up.

Remember to pack anything truly valuable/irreplaceable yourself.I pack jewelry and important papers myself and let them go to town on everything else. And I hope you don't have as many books as we do as there is usually an extra charge after so many (I think 5) boxes of books.

Some services are really worth paying for, and full-service movers are definitely one of them. Moving is exhausting enough even apart from that.

I like your typo: “she sells Girl Scout Cookies or her daughter”.

Yes, moving! I have moved offices 5 times, and home 3 times, since I got out of law school. File cabinets are horrible.

I know it's just a missing f, but the mental image of the woman selling Girl Guide cookies or her daughter entertained me deeply.

"Fucking cookies, not moving at all. Hey, if I sell my kid, I won't have to sell the damn cookies anymore!"
