Still in the old apartment. Heard from mechanic that the newer car will need another engine and he personally wouldn't recommend it, as its a 1999. Now I have to see if the seller will return the money as he promised

Wish you were closer. Son is Automotive Technician (means he has an Associate's degree in auto tech) and I bet he could fix your '93. He rebuilds cars in his spare time. Has even worked on a Model-T! Still. It really isn't anything that a jar of Nutella can't fix (or at least make you feel better about.)
I owe you an update about the jail-on-spring-break sitch: my friend's family declined to bail her out, so she was in jail two nights. Then she appeared before the judge, who was compassionate and simply ordered her to get out of town. I drove her to the next town where she was able to get a train to Omaha the next morning.
As far as I can tell, her family has no plans to get her into counseling or rehab. Apparently because this "happemns a lot," it's normal, or something. Idek.
