Last night I met Rebecca at 5:30, and we found the most perfect -free!- parking spot streetside, smack in the middle of the busy main downtown street. i saw richard in the spring after not having seem him for a long time. he's astounding. he uses his voice instrumentally, which i tend to do too, and it works so well. and his writing of course is impeccable.

It's kind of sad how I listen to the songs, but I don't really hear the words as I go about my days, not until I'm there in the dark and he's in the spotlight, and suddenly everything becomes super-clear. I have those little aha! moments in the dark a lot. I love the stories he tells with his songs. They make me happy, even when they're sad.
