Tessa,

I want to talk to my friend Renee. She is going through the EXACT same shit you are right now. She does have fibromyalgia, diagnosed, and she's on a lot of the same meds that you are. She's a teacher at Bartlett High. I've watched how it destroyed her life.

She's really cool but I would like to learn more about this as I now know three people suffering from it; you, her, and my aunt. To be hoenst with you, I always thought it was just one of those b.s. diseases. My aunt is a bit fucked up to begin with and we just figured she like taking meds. However, once I met Renee and saw how horribly ill she was from it, I knew it wasn't a made up thing.

I am sure there are a lot of people who have imaginary diseases and symptoms, and they just know what to say to a dr. to get a diagnoses of something you cant prove. I know lots of people like that.

I dont know why anyone would wanna HAVE to take tons of meds every day. I have such a hard time swallowing them, and it never gets easier for me. The always feel like they are sitting in my throat and its the worst when they are chalky. Makes me throw up.

Kevins grandma was just diagnosed with it, and one of kevins uncles told me he thinks she is just doing it for attention, cause he said she has been going to dr's at LEAST twice a week for yeaaaaaaaars. I couldnt handle that. I hate hate hate dr. offices. But not for the same reason most people do, i hate them because i just hate being around strangers anywhere!

Have you tried Lyrica yet?

Apparently that's one of the first treatments authorized for the treatment of fibro. I think it's Lyrica...

Oh Tessa, I wish they could pinpoint a therapy for it that would work like TENS or biofeedback or something that would STOP the pain rather than mask it.

Renee also is on Provigil which is like Adderall except better as far as no side effects and duration. She was on Adderall as well to begin with but prefers the Provigil.

If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll ask her.

Are you talking about Renee the jewish lawyer who talks really fast?

I have tried provigil, and it didnt do a damn thing for me. But it does work for Kevin. I have NOT tried Lyrica, but my GP actually recommened it and was gonna prescribe it to me, but I said I wanted to wait to see what kind of treatment the fibro people were gonna do. But this morning I decided I need to schedule an appt with the GP again and get on it, cause Im really starting to bottom out.

That sounds terrible. I don't know what else to say? Good luck? I hope you feel better?

Those are the sentiments I want to express, but they seem to come up short. Hopefully some sort of treatment or plan of action to get rid of it comes up soon. Because medicating for pain is simply not good enough when it comes to something like this.

Yeah I know how difficult it can be to express empathy for stuff like this, especially eMPATHY (for those who didnt get that i was witty and used letter play to express empathy over the net harhar). But thanks for the thoughts and stuff, its nice to know that I still have friends who care even if I havent seen them in forever ( ... )

go to an acupuncture school.

they have clinics you can participate in for free or reduced price. everything is monitored by teachers/dr.s in oriental medicine.

My mom's always had migraines. What I remember the most about my childhood is my mom asking my brother and I to please keep it down as we watched TV together while she tried to rest and sleep in the next room. We were such well-behaved children compared to the other kids, so you have that to look forward to, a wonderfully obedient Lily, hehe. I hope they find a treatment that works for you. I guess it will take a while of trial and error. And have fun with the developing vocabulary, it's a great endeavor for anyone. I just heard something about SAT manga vocab builders, you might want to look into that for amusement's sake. :)

Is that a book, or something on line? (the sat manga thing)

Actually when I am REALLY feeling shitty, ill usually turn on this DVD Lily's just LOVES. Its this lady who sings fun educational songs. But anyways, she just makes my heart feel like its going to explode with joy and emotion when she does this..... Ill be laying on the couch watching her play, or dance or whatever and she will know I am not feeling good and she will go get her favorite blankey and bear she sleeps with every night and she will over me up with it, and make her bear kiss me then give him for me to hold. The fact that she understands that type of behavior already blows my mind, and makes me so proud. Its things like that, that give me the strength to get through the bad days.

It doesnt sound like you look back on your childhood thinking that your mom didnt do a good job, am I right? Thats somethign that worries me.

That's so sweet of her! And my mom, I think she did a great job. There's so much more to her and her child-rearing than the migraines and quiet time we experienced. There's so much more to you, too. When I look back it's not her health that defines my mom, it's every little way she has supported me and encouraged me to do whatever my heart desires. She's never told me I couldn't or shouldn't do something, and that blows my mind. You're doing your best and that's all anyone can do. <3

Here's a link to Amazon, I guess there aren't many books out yet:
