Wow, we are an alarmist and ignorant bunch, aren't we?  I've been reading about this "travesty" about how Livejournal is going to "invade our privacy" and it just makes me very very sad.  I read comments about how horrible Livejournal is for doing it, and I just want to dump a load of cold hard facts on these people.  So, how bout some facts

What do you call personal? Is it personal information that you went to a grocery store? Is it personal information that you walked down isle 2 when half a dozen people saw you? Is something that you post onto a webpage where ANYONE can access it personal?

They've nearly done the equivalent of locking the information in a filing cabinet in the basement, in the dark, behind a locked door with a sign on it saying "Beware of the Leapord".Wow. So posting something publicly, on a user group that everyone has access to, and provinding the information right there is all that? I'd hate to hear your description of some of the typical things you have to go through in order to cancel accounts on various websites/games

If ya don't like it - don't use LJ. That's what another friend of mine did. She didn't like the LJ policies, so she went elsewhere.

Personally I'm grateful that people put things up like cameras and watchdogs, even on the internet. So even though I'm an honest person, others may not be, and I feel safer knowing that those with less than stellar intents are being watched just as much as I am being.

I don't have anything to hide, so I am not worried.

Personally I'm glad someone else out there has a brain. People who claim to not want to be "parasited" are idiots. You can opt out, if your intelligent, you'd know that. DUR.
