If a movie was not enough to delight Kaibutsu-kun fans, Satoshi Ohno will reprise his role as the prince of the monster world in a special TV drama this autumn, it was revealed on August 4, reports
Sponichi Annex and the official
Kaibutsu-kun website.
The drama series, adapted from the popular manga series of the same name, went on air in japan during 2010′s spring drama season. Recording average ratings of 14% during its run, the drama has since aired one sequel special on TV, and its movie is set to be released at the end of the year. It has been reported more than 100,000 pre-sale tickets for the movie were sold in the first two days of sales last month.
Nevertheless, Arashi’s leader will don the yellow shirt and big ears for another TV special. The story will continue on from the last TV special. Having finished his training in the human world, Kaibutsu-kun returns to his homeland, ready to take on the responsibilities as king. Or is he…?
‘I can’t be bothered’, ‘King’s are busy every day’, ‘I don’t want to be king!’
Just like before, Kaibutsu-kun shows no desire to be ruler, which is making life hard for everyone around him.
His friends, Dracula, Wolfman, and Franken are worried because they might be held responsible for not getting Kaibutsu-kun ready to be king.
His fiancee, Kaiko-chan (played by talent/actress Becky), is annoyed because Kaibutsu-kun ignores all of her advances.
His dad, the King Monster, is worried about his son’s lack of motivation. However, the King reaches a limit and initiates ‘something’. What is it? You will have to watch and see.
Ohno has left the following comment on the Kaibutsu-kun website:
“‘Kaibutsu-kun’ is coming back as a special drama before we release the movie! It’s been a year-and-a-half since our last TV show so I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again!
“This time’s special is one I think everyone can enjoy, whether you watched the drama or not! Kaiko-chan’s coming back too!
“The story is such that when you’re done watching it, it’ll make you think, ‘Kaibutsu-kun is so cool!!’, so please look forward to both the drama and the movie!!”
