Twentieth Century:
Sakamoto Masayuki: -born July 24, 1971
As V6’s leader and the oldest (and tallest!) member of V6, Sakamoto Masayuki has been very dedicated and hard-working. Although he left Johnny’s Junior when he turned 20, he was asked to return to be the leader of V6. Not only does Sakamoto make a great leader, but he also acts as the father-figure to the rest of the group by encouraging them to always do their best. For example, he forced Okada Junichi to finish high school, even when Okada wanted to drop out because of his success in V6. However, although Sakamoto is indeed the father-figure to the rest of the group, his fear of heights sometimes makes him act like a frightened child when at a high elevation!!
Sakamoto Masayuki happens to also be wonderfully talented when singing, as shown when he was chosen to sing the theme song for Disney’s Tarzan, “You’ll Be in My Heart.” His vocal talents have lead to many roles in live musicals, such as “Footloose,” “The Sound of Music,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service,” “Blood Brothers,” and most recently, “Say You Kids” with the rest of Twentieth Century.
And for those who like to link V6 with the popular drink, V8, Sakamoto’s family owns a fruit and vegetable shop! Unfortunately, the similarities between V6 and V8 end at that fact... ^__^;
Needless to say, under Sakamoto’s guidance, V6 has and continues to improve and dazzle their audiences world-wide. Arigatou gozaimasu, Sakamoto Masayuki! We love you!
Nagano Hiroshi: -born October 9, 1972
Like Sakamoto Masayuki, Nagano Hiroshi left Johnny’s Junior but came back when he heard that Sakamoto had come back to form V6. And, like his older counterpart, Nagano acts as a parent-figure to the rest of the group - if Sakamoto is the father, then that makes Nagano the…mother. Indeed, with his charming smile and his supportive attitude, he makes the perfect mother! Nagano Hiroshi also has a fetish for the art of cooking. He prides himself on his knowledge of restaurants in different areas of Japan; this is also shown in his collection of name cards from all over Japan.
Nagano Hiroshi is probably very well-known for his role as Ultraman TIGA. He is still recognized on the streets by kids who watched the popular show; unfortunately, this provides V6 with perfect chances for making fun of Nagano. But Nagano wouldn’t be Nagano without his Ultraman TIGA!
Nagano Hiroshi is also very interested in motorbikes and automobiles, which is revealed in his role in “Hard Luck Hero” as a sports car racer, and his hosting a TV show about motorcycles. Because of his fascination, he was voted as the “Person Who Suits With Motorcycles” in 2002. Cooking and motorcycles…what a combination!
One of the most recent accomplishments of Nagano is his special appearance in the Japanese drama, “Kimi wa petto.” He also is active in many stage plays, one being “Say You Kids” with the rest of Twentieth Century. Hopefully, we’ll see him in many more plays and films to come!
Inohara Yoshihiko: -born May 17, 1976
If there was one word to describe Inohara Yoshihiko that word would be: happiness. Inohara almost always has a smile on his face. Because of his charming friendly personality, Inohara has many friends both in and out of the show business, including Taichi Kokubun from TOKIO. Wherever he goes, Inocchi (as he is lovingly referred to by his friends and his fans) is always ready to jump (literally) into the thick of things.
V6 fans haven’t only fallen in love with Inocchi’s personality, but his voice is so wonderful! Along with Sakamoto, Inocchi gets the most solo parts during V6 songs. And his musical abilities don’t just stop there! Inocchi is also an excellent guitar player and songwriter.
Inohara is also known for having a part in the creation of “Pikajnchi,” a popular movie starring Arashi. Now, a second movie, Pikajjnchi Double has been made as well. Inocchi has also acted in the drama, “Ashita Tenki ni Nare” alongside Arisa Miyuki, and the stage play, “Say You Kids” with the rest of Twentieth Century.
Inohara Yoshihiko is currently finishing high school because he promised his father that he would complete high school. His entry into high school was broadcast across Japanese televisions on V6’s variety show, “Gakkou he Ikou!” V6’s reactions to his news were also shown, and their support of Inohara is very heartwarming. Ganbatte ne, Inohara! The fans are suppporting you too!
Coming Century:
Morita Go: -born February 20, 1978
Morita Go’s attitude seems to say, “Trouble-maker”. Well, that’s partially right! Go-kun is probably one of the most rambunctious members of V6. When he first started in V6, he was very rebellious and forced Sakamoto Masayuki to yell at him. However, as V6 grew closer, he has shown many different facets in his character. Not only does he have a hilarious sense of humour, he has shown to be the shyest of the group in front of a huge crowd. However, whenever he is with his best friend, Miyake Ken, or with Inohara Yoshihiko, he is just like a little kid, willing to play pranks and act silly.
Although Morita sometimes tries to act tough, the fans know otherwise, especially when Go-kun released a single called “Koi no 400M Curry.” This song was sung by Go and 5 little girls who wanted to be popular female Japanese idols like Hamasaki Ayumi and Puffy (a duo group). Not only did Go release this single, but he performed it live with the girls! Kawaii!!!
Morita Go has not only shown a softness for kids, but also for dogs. He has a pet dog, Momo, which he loves very much. As well, for “Gakkou he Ikou!”, V6’s variety show, Morita enters a dog-training competition with the rest of Coming Century. Go chose a dog called Dori, who did absolutely nothing, yet Go remained patient and stuck with the dog! That’s our Go-kun!!
Morita has shown several talents from acting in dramas (“Lunch Queen no Joou” and “Perfect Bride”), singing, and dancing. V6 would definitely not be V6 without Morita Go!
Miyake Ken: born July 2, 1978
Miyake Ken. Whenever someone thinks of Miyake Ken, a question always comes to mind: “What is with his voice?” And yes, that is his real voice. However, although his voice is enough to make someone wince, he can amazingly stay on tune during live performances or concerts.
Miyake is incredibly fit. He’s been swimming since he was young, so he has a killer body that girls drool over and guys wish they had! As well, it appears that his constant days in the water has bleached his hair to be permanently brown. However, although Miyake is in the best shape, he is one of the more delicate members of V6. For example, he can’t be out in the sun without sunglasses because his eyes can’t handle the sunlight. Because of this, it’s easy to tell that the rest of V6 babies him constantly.
Miyake has also acted in dramas such as “Neverland” and “Marusa!!.” He has proved to be a spectacular actor. However, in real life, he can be quite wacky. Whether with Inohara or Morita, who happens to be his best friend, he’s willing to go along with whatever crazy plans the other has.
Just like Morita, Ken loves animals. Thus, it’s no surprise that he has two dogs: Blue and J. Another thing Ken loves happens to be food. He constantly eats whatever food happens to be around. Amazing how such a small person can eat so much…
For a last fascinating fact on Miyake Ken: he has a twin sister! She must be proud of her brother…I know we are!
Okada Junichi: -born November 18, 1980
The baby of the group, Okada Junichi appears to be, ironically, one of the most mature members of V6. What makes Okada Junichi unique is that he was not part of Johnny’s Juniors when he became a member of V6. With a shaky audition performance, where he actually forgot his lyrics, Junichi has rocketed to a confident singer who has been given more solos with each new song V6 records.
Okada’s talents don’t only include singing. This talented guy also plays up to Grade 6 of piano, since his mother is a piano teacher. Thus, V6 allows Okada to accompany them on piano at times, which he did during performances of “Dasenai Tegami” and “Mejirushi no Kioku” on Music Station. With his killer voice and his piano-playing, I’d let Okada serenade me any day!
Okada was actually born in the car on the way to the hospital! And although he was thought to be dead at first, little Okada survived! Because he was born in Osaka, he forged a bond with Doumouto Tsuyoshi from KinKi Kids. Now the two are best friends!
Okada’s most recognizable and distinguished physical feature happens to be a big bump on his forehead, which he got in his earlier rugby-playing high school years. The other members of V6 call it his “deko” and it is the brunt of many of their jokes. Poor Okada! But he doesn’t seem to mind, and enjoys making fun of his “deko” himself.
Okada is also growing as a talented actor. Although he has done dramas with Coming Century, such as “Pu-Pu-Pu,” Okada’s acting career skyrocketed with his performances in “Oyaji” and “Kisarazu Cats Eye.” Thus, it is no surprise that Okada was voted as #8 in the An-An magazine list of Top 30 Desirable Men. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is #1 on that list some day!
Whether V6 is dressing up as women, traveling to other countries to play games, trying almost impossible stunts, cooking, playing pranks on each other, hitting each other on the foreheads with a pencil, or just jumping around like little children, they are one of the best examples of living life to its fullest. V6 are excellent role models and inspirations to the people around them, and hopefully will continue to prosper for many years to come.
