Slugs. In the kitchen. Four, so far, on four different days. The three I've spotted and scooped up and tossed in the ivy patch in front of our apartment are not as bothersome. Bizarre, but slugs are not on my short list of "OMG KEEP THAT *THING* AWAY FROM ME!!!" However, the fourth had made its way onto the rag rug in front of the sink, where ( Read more... )

Oh man, not fun! I used to babysit a kid who LOVED to pour salt on slugs he found, and they had a lot of slugs coming in to their home, too. I would not allow him to do this under my watch, but as he got older he started being cruel to different animals and was hospitalized several times for psychotic behavior and threatening people with death.

I'm not sure how that's relevant, except that hey, at least you're a reasonable person and the slug's death was only an accident.

That kid sounds...special... I've told Bear that I promise to love our children unless any of them turn out to be psychopaths. :p

That is the hardest part. His parents have been exhausted for a long time. It's a hard road to see your child with such a complicated illness.

I can't even imagine. I've cared for children with physical and mental disabilities but not with mental illness.

No wisdom but a shudder for you from here.

It's that season of the year, where the outdoors tries to come in. I dreamed about ants last night but so far I haven't seen any. And I know that this is the time of year when we are most likely (at least in our our place) to need to do some rodent removal. Thankfully that was usually just one small mouse. But I've never encountered slugs. That's just strange to me.

ps. I thought of this again later today as I had a minor basement flood and the ants picked this day to invade.
