good deals/children's gifts

I really love finding good deals on things. $9 for a tub of Duplos for Rowan's birthday--would have been $25 new. $4 for a Christmas gift for a friend's daughter--would have been $15 new. A couple of board-book editions, in perfect shape, of three books we have out of the library right now, $2 apiece. I'm going to put those away for Rowan's ( Read more... )

donations to charities/organizations in their name!

A friend of mine supplied a school class in Ghana for me once and it was really special to receive a notice from the organization that it had been done.

It can be really cheap, it is meaningful, and a great way to teach younger kids about giving/sharing.

or a one time pass to a museum, nature center, or zoo? Or even a gift certificate to go out for a treat (ice cream, frozen yogurt ( ... )

I could donate to Heifer International and get the girls two of those little Schleich plastic calves from Target and write a card with a four-year-old-sized explanation.

Gift card for the movies, (there is a new pooh bear movie coming out), i do that for kids I know that have way too much stuff.

Tickets to the children's museum.
Day passes to the fair (rides and/or exhibits).
A ride on a horse carriage or limo or something else fun like that.
Tickets to the Zoo.
A trip to the pool.
Tickets to some other children's attraction (we have a place that's full of trampolines!)
Etc.

Thank you! I should have mentioned, this friend doesn't live here or in my hometown, so I'd have to ask her where she takes the girls for fun outings.
