I've been watching a lot of MTV Español lately. It's the only one left that's remotely watchable. MTV2 used to be all videos, but now they have their own sickly subspecies of TRL. MTVE has one VJ who comes on maybe once every half hour for 10 seconds, and if it's annoying, I can't even tell!
As a speaker of Spanish (And Spanish major), those MTVE VJs are actually much more enjoyable and mature than the American VJs. What they say has substance and pertinance.
As for Marit: As a speaker of Chinese, Yin and Yang are not Chinese...Korean? Anyhoo, I don't know, but if it's anything like Chinese (Which it is), it would be "yìn," as "ying" doesn't exist.
And as a child of a mother, mothers are pretty awesome.
Yin and yang are definitely Chinese. They're the aspects of Taoism. My Chinese teacher explained their meaning as something like the north and south side of a hill (light and shadow.) I don't know if that was meant to be literal or just symbolic. He also speaks Korean, though, so I checked Merriam Webster to see if I could rule that out, and they say etymology is Chinese. They could be throwbacks to an extinct dialect, though.
Awesome O-Zone icon. I love the Dragostea Din Tei video.
