The capacity for people to believe their own (insufficiently rigorous, non-scientific) experience over properly done experiments may be the single biggest thing holding back mankind.

Pretty much.

By "experience" are you referring to one's own experiences?

While I did say "own (insufficiently rigorous, non-scientific) experience", might I inquire as to what other source of experience you thought I might be talking about? There is always the opportunity for better wording. 8)

Whoops. I totally missed that. :P Sorry. Brain is stupid today.

I think that this just goes to show that people are, despite our highly-developed brains and all of our technology, still, at the root of it, animals.

Do you believe this in response to your own experiences, or have you performed experiments?

Man, you've been on it the past few days. Need a hug?

Fwiw, I think most people don't care enough to go to the trouble of digging up the results of properly done experiments. The problem is when they claim to know *fact* without carrying out the experiments themselves.

Need a hug?

I'm pretty sure that's not an offer. ; )

No, I would totally give you a hug. I'm defining a "hug" as being pleasant for all parties, not a squeezing contest :)
