This isn't connected to any particular incident, but I really, really, really hate people right now.

I feel more and more like someone who is floating through society and trying to make do by apeing social conventions.

Just because you can't win if you don't play doesn't mean that you have to play. Sometimes the only winning move is not to play.

There are a variety of not great people and then some stupendously awesome people. What's going on that you've lost some of uniqueness or even attempting to "ape social conventions"?

Mostly, it's the usual bits of meeting new people. You have to approximate the usual social handshake in order to negotiate a connection and then let them discover how abnormal you are. 8)

i know that feeling well. it gets worse the more time i spend talking to people from work. sadly, i've been giving ashley pointers on how to act like a normal person (make pointless small-talk and pretend to be interested in other people's bullshit and such), as she's been having trouble with that at her new job.

i hope the feeling passes relatively quickly for you. =\
