Reid waits quietly in the hall while Hotch runs in to change, hands shoved in his pockets, brow furrowed. He'd jumped down Hotch's throat when Hotch was only trying to do something nice for him, and that hadn't been fair in the least.

Hotch had done what he thought was best for the team, and for Emily. He couldn't fault him for that. Or he shouldn't, at least. And now he's trying to make amends, and Reid needs to do his best to not be combative any longer.

When Hotch returns, Reid smiles a little. "Ready. And -- I'm sorry. I'm trying but I need to um. I need to try harder. I know that."

"Try harder?" He reached for his keys, slipping them into his jeans pocket without much of a thought, though he did reach for a jacket. It was starting to get cold outside, after all, and he'd prefer not to shiver his way home if it got cold out that night.

There was the assurance he was figuring on. He knew Spencer - he knew that Spencer didn't go around trying to start fights. Or if he did, he had a good reason behind it. With a slow exhale, he walked over to his friend and partner and reached out to squeeze his shoulder, to draw him closer. "And I was probably being oversensitive."
