1) The bar was a good place to be social without having to actually do anything that really counted as 'social.' Which was best for all involved, really, because if there was one thing Nikolas Kamarov failed at, it was being acceptably social with another human being. Applying vodka to the problem only helped so much--it made him more likely to talk, but also far more likely to say something strange and possibly unnerving to whatever poor person had the misfortune of attracting his attention.

2) Nikolas wasn't the sort of man who obsessed over his performance in the field or spent hours in his off time training. He knew himself, he knew his abilities, and he knew the sorts of things he was capable of. He didn't need a gym to remind him of just how capable he was. That being the case, it had taken him a little while to realize how useful the Sensorium could be, especially in allowing him to participate in a little act of complete masochism. He would have been impressed at just how well it had recreated the halls of Skywatch, were he paying any attention to it at all. His focus, however, was on the utterly alien thing in front of him, all shiny black exoskeleton and dripping acid saliva. He cracked his knuckles and squared off, giving it a level look. "Let's try this again."
