I think some of it is an age thing. When we're younger it seems easier to get swept up in something new. For me comics are so entwined with my entire life that it's hard to have any real perspective. They were a defining part of my life and responsible for much of my world view. I see customers in my age range who seem to still have that level of excitement, but I don't know how much of that compares to how they were at an earlier age either. It is still an escape from their routine for many of them and I see an enthusiasm I don't always share. As much as I'm into anything these days I don't feel the same kind of thrill I did when I was younger.

Maybe we simply learn to expect less when we get older.
