Swat kats: a rant

I will start off by saying I don’t know why the flying fuck my brain decided to go to this again, but here we are so I might as well get it down.  Most things that come to mind I just let slip away but because this has resurfaced I will vent it… hell I need to use social media more because I can’t remember the last time I posted ( Read more... )

The writers wanted to do mor ebut th higher ups intervened. In season 2 there was an episode that introduce a villainess with a megadeath ship.

The ORIGINAL script had FERAL turning his back on his job and deciding to join her... and you could believe it because he would be frustrated by always being outdone by the swatkats and the incompetence of his crew and the city.

But the higher ups said "no, it needs to have more of the main two characters in it" so it was just T-bone instead, and you never for even half a second believed he was switching sides and the whole thing fell apart.

Thats the story I'm aware of, I wouldn't be surprised if other episodes had similar "keep the status quo" restraints on them. There were also like 5 more episodes in season 2 scripted and recorded that didn't get animated.

On the other hand, all those hundreds of planes that get exploded... never have parachutes.

that does make sense, a real shame all together. One of those things I'd love to see resurected in comic or graphic novel form.

Great post. For some reason it made me want to go watch "Gargoyles" though.

I missed the show on its first run-through, and caught parts of it in either middle school or early high school, and I think I didn't get MORE into it because of many of the factors you mentioned. It never explored the past and it never reached into a future, and I have a huge dislike for wasted opportunities. The premise was fun for after-school, but it never grew beyond the babysitting, whoever's fault that was. ...Also, I'm pretty sure that you missed a hyphen in "panty-wetting."

But most of all, it's now past midnight on the east coast, so...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And thank you for your birthday wishes last week, which my cell phone notified me of eventually. : )

You know, I'd say Swat Kats was probably number two on my list of shows that could use a Ronald Moore-style reimagining, Exo Squad being just ahead of it.

I'd have said John Ringo instead of Moore, but then we'd end up with Megakat City covered in underage whores.

And happy birthday.

I think plot-wise, Exo-Squad was fine. The only thing that dates it are those very stuck in the era character designs.

Plot-wise Exo-Squad was decent, except for that sequence where they blew up Mars, which they'd promised to the pirates in exchange for help with the war, yet there are never any consequences from it. (Yes, I know they like, duct-taped Mars back together later, but you'd think Jonas should have at least had some choice words about the whole thing ( ... )
