Summary:  When Jensen meets Mac's new volleyball coach, he falls head over heels in lust.  Can they overcome misunderstanding and tragedy and find their way to each other?

Every time a therapy day rolled by, Jensen felt his defenses against Jared weaken, and he moved beyond lust to something more.  Something he refused to name.  They talked about everything and nothing, and more than once, Jensen really wished he wasn't attracted to Jared so he could keep him as a friend.  But then Jared would laugh, or smile, or breathe, and Jensen was right back to wanting him.

Sometimes Coach McCoy, or Sandy as she insisted Jensen call her, came as well.  She and Jared were very careful not to be too touchy feely in front of Jensen.  He supposed that some of the parents might not like the two coaches making out in front of their kids, and Jensen was more than happy to take advantage of that.  He liked them both, but for obvious reasons he didn't want to see Jared groping a girl in front of him.

Somewhere around September, Jensen came home to find Mac back out in the driveway, hitting a volleyball up against the side of the garage.  It reminded him of the first time he came home to find her like that, and his heart swelled with happiness.  He didn't say a word, but raised a questioning eyebrow.  Mac just shrugged and gave him a little grin.  Jensen thought his heart might explode from hope and happiness.

Now, when Jared came over, he spent as much time running drills with Mac as he did having a beer with Jensen.  Jensen tried to quash down his jealousy, and for Mac's sake he was mostly successful.

By the time tryouts came, Mac was almost back to one hundred percent.  Luckily, even at eight five percent, there wasn't another setter anywhere near as good as she was.  Chad and Jared both promised that she'd be as good as new once the season started.

Jensen and Josh took turns taking her to practice, but soon, Josh managed to leave all of that to Jensen.  After practice, the coaches would join them for pizza or burgers so Jensen and Jared could talk about whatever they liked while Mac actually got some one-on-one time with another female.  Gay he might be, but Jensen was pretty sure he couldn't answer all of the girl-type questions that Mac would end up having.

That winter, Mac's birthday fell on a Friday, and they invited the entire team, with parents, and a few of her school friends for a cookout.  Thankfully it was a warm winter in Texas, and they wouldn't have to repeat Eskimo Grill Extravaganza of 2006 for her birthday, complete with parkas and gloves.  Besides, even if the temperature dipped, the pool was heated, and the girls would have a blast.

They lucked into a beautiful evening, and Jensen fired up the grill.  They had steaks and kabobs, even some ribs and brisket.  The moms puttered around the kitchen working on sides while the men clustered around the grill.  Jensen felt a pang when it reminded him of the cookouts they used to have with their parents, but somehow it felt right, like his parents were with them too.

Most of the parents cleared out by eleven, leaving the girls to stay over and watch movies until dawn.  Josh pleaded an early morning, leaving Jensen to watch over the girls.

He had started cleaning up the empty cups and plates from the pool area when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

"Need some help, man?" Jared asked.

"Dude, you don't have to.  I'm sure Sandy would like to head out," Jensen said.

"Huh?  Why would she be waiting on me?  She came on her own, man, and left, like twenty minutes ago," Jared explained.

"Oh.  Well, okay," Jensen said, perplexed.  They were still really friendly, so they couldn't have broken up.  Why would they have come separately?

Jared grabbed an extra bag and started on the far side of the pool.  With two of them working, they were done pretty quickly, so Jensen grabbed another couple of beers so they could sit outside and enjoy the quiet.

"I just can't thank you enough, man," Jensen said as they stretched out on lounge chairs.  "There was a while there where I didn't think I'd ever see her smile again."

"So she's doing good?" Jared asked.  "She seems it at practice, but I wasn't sure how she was doing otherwise."

"There are good days and bad days," Jensen said.  "My mom's birthday would have been a couple of weeks ago.  We used to have one big party in between their birthdays, so they could celebrate together.  When the day came, all three of us were pretty upset.  But we got past it, and I wanted Mac to have a party of her own, so she could see that life really will go on."

"You're a good brother," Jared said.  "She's lucky to have you."

"Thanks," Jensen said, blushing.  Just the smallest word of praise from Jared and his heart started to thunder.  "So how are you doing?  It seems we always end up talking about me?"

"I'm good.  I'm always pumped when a new season starts.  This year is great because instead of changing teams, they're letting me stay with the same group of girls.  I would have been bummed if I had to let another coach take over," Jared said.  "I know I shouldn't, but I do get attached to them."

"They're a good group," Jensen said.  "They've been good friends to Mac, and I'm really grateful that she ended up with a good team.  They're like family to her, now."

"They think of you as family too, you know," Jared said.  "Jeff mentioned that they all feel the need to take care of you like you were their own kids."

"Like I said, we ended up lucky.  Thank you for coming out to find her that day," Jensen said.

"Well, to be honest, I had ulterior motives," Jared said.  Jensen looked up to see him blush.

"What do you mean?" Jensen said.

"Er.  Well," Jared began, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck.  "Ikindawantedanexcusetotalktoyou," he admitted in a rush.

"Huh?" was Jensen's eloquent response.

"Well, I kinda saw you the day before and maybe wanted an excuse to meet you," Jared said.  "Now, I really did think she had talent.  And she had guts, too, which I always look for in a player.  It just didn't hurt that her brother was hot."

Jared thought he was hot.  But wait.  Jared wasn't gay.  He had Sandy.  Maybe he was bi.  Jensen was so very confused.

"What about Sandy?" Jensen asked.

It was Jared's turn to look confused.  "What about her?"

"At that first tournament after Mac joined your team.  I heard you two all cuddled up and flirting outside of the sportsplex."

"What in the hell are you talking about?" Jared said.

"She was teasing you about how you were distracted during the whole first game.  You said it was hard to concentrate with someone as hot as her in the room," Jensen explained.  "I didn't stick around any longer than that.  I really didn't mean to eavesdrop."

Jared's jaw dropped.  He stared at Jensen for a good minute before he burst into laughter.  He laughed so hard that he had to clutch his sides.  He finally stopped, and looked at Jensen with an incredulous air.

"You are an idiot," he said fondly.  He stood up and walked over to Jensen.  He stepped over until he was straddling Jensen's chair, then sank down until he was perched on Jensen's thighs.

Jensen was having a very hard time drawing breath.  He leaned back in the chair, trying to put some room between him and Jared.  Hoping that even an inch of distance would help slow his racing pulse.

"I wasn't distracted by Sandy, dumbass," Jared said.  He reached up and cradled Jensen's face in one hand.  Jensen closed his eyes and whimpered as Jared traced his cheek with one large thumb.  "I was distracted by the very hot brother of my setter.  I was worried that I was going to pop a boner in front of the entire gym, and was worried about having to explain that to all of the girls and their parents.  I was worried that they were going to think I had a thing for their little girls, when all I wanted to do was push you up against the wall and kiss you," Jared said.  He leaned down and placed a sweet kiss on Jensen's lips.

"When I saw you at that first tournament, I wanted you," Jared continued.  "Sandy thought you were pretty hot, too, and we argued about which one of us would go after you.  After Mac joined the team, she said a couple of things that made me think that maybe you liked guys, and maybe you might like me.  But when we went out for pizza that afternoon…"

"I was a jackass," Jensen said.  His head was spinning with the new information.

"Which, considering what you thought, I suppose I can understand a little," Jared said with a grin.  "You were jealous."

"Yeah," Jensen admitted.  "I didn't want to be anywhere near you.  All I could think of was how much I wanted to kiss you, and there you sat with a hot chick who seemed perfect for you."

"Well, she is hot, but she's really not my type," Jared said.  "Is that why you were so standoffish at the Houston tournament?"

"Yeah."

"Dude, you were so adorable making faces at Mac and the other girls.  I didn't know what I wanted more, to fuck you or to cuddle you," Jared said.  He leaned forward for another kiss, this one deeper and hotter.

"Made up your mind then?" Jensen asked afterwards, breathing heavily.

"Yep," Jared said, scooting even closer.  "I want to fuck you, and then cuddle you."  Jensen felt Jared's cock, hard and long, pressing against his own.  "And then fuck you again."

Jensen cursed the layers of denim between them.

The kisses got progressively more intense, until they were both whimpering with need, rutting against one another.  Jensen had fantasized about Jared's hands, huge and warm against his skin.  The fantasy had nothing on the reality, those long fingers running up under his shirt, stroking his skin and reaching up to rasp against his nipples.  He reached around Jared and grabbed his ass, pulling him closer so they could each find the friction they needed.

It had been way too long for Jensen, and sooner than he would have imagined, he stiffened and moaned into Jared's mouth as orgasm slammed through his body.  A couple of thrusts later, it was Jared who fell apart, clutching at Jensen and burying his head in the juncture between Jensen's shoulder and neck.

When they finally came back down to earth, a horrible thought struck Jensen.  He whipped his head around to make sure that there were no prying eyes from inside the house.  If there had been, they were long gone.  He hoped that the lure of Johnny Depp was enough to keep their eyes glued to the television.

"Coach Padalecki, this is highly inappropriate behavior for someone in your exalted position," Jensen said, reaching up to plant kisses along Jared's jaw.

"I know," Jared replied.  "With impressionable young girls not twenty feet away.  Want to come over to my place tomorrow night for more inappropriate behavior and exalted positions?"

"God yes," Jensen said.  "Josh can stay here tomorrow night, or Mac can stay with a friend."

"Eager much," Jared teased, nuzzling Jensen's jaw.

"I've been lusting over you for damned near a year," Jensen said.  "I sure as hell am eager."

"Good.  Now we should probably get cleaned up," Jared said.  "And then I should get home."

Jensen growled his disapproval.  "Wish you didn't have to."

"Me too.  But you need to get a good night's sleep," Jared said.  "Because you won't be getting much tomorrow night."

Jensen's cock twitched at the slight growl in Jared's voice.  "Keep saying things like that and I might just not let you leave."

"Trust me, it'll be worth the wait," Jared promised.  He dropped a sweet kiss onto Jensen's lips, and then stood.  Jensen snickered at the wet spot on the front of Jared's jeans until Jared pointed out a similar spot on Jensen's.   Jensen groaned in horror.

"At least I don't have to run the girl gauntlet with a wet spot," Jared teased.  "Just grab a kitchen towel and hold it in front of you."

"Like that won't look suspicious," Jensen said with a sigh.

"Act nonchalant," Jared said.  "They'll never even look up from the movie."

"I guess," Jensen said.  "Tomorrow night had better be damned good to make up for this humiliation."

"I guarantee it'll be a night you'll never forget," Jared said, pulling Jensen to his feet and kissing him again.  "Make sure Josh can stay here all day Sunday, too.  I don't think I'll be able to control myself."

Jensen shivered.  It was turning into an awesome weekend.

Mac squealed with delight when Jensen told her he was having dinner with Jared.  "I knew you two were perfect for each other," she said, grinning smugly.  "You always get this look on your face when he's around.  Like Dad always got around Mom, like you're looking at your most favorite thing in the world."

"I do not," Jensen grumbled.

"Yeah, you do," Mac said.  "But don't worry, whenever you're not looking, Coach P. gets that look when he's staring at you, too.  We've all seen it."

"Who's we?"

"Me, the girls on the team, their parents, Coach McCoy, Josh.  Even Mom and Dad said something about it at the Houston tournament," she said with a shrug.  "We actually had a pool on how long it would take for you two to hook up.  I, being the trusting sister that I am, thought you would have worked through all of this months ago.  Way to let your emotional retardation cost me twenty bucks."

"You bet on when we would hook up?  What kind of sister are you?" Jensen yelped.

"The kind of sister who kept talking you up to her very hot coach," Mac said, pointedly.  "The kind of sister who will expect to be godmother once you two have a commitment ceremony and start adopting a houseful of cute babies."

"We haven't even been on a date," Jensen said, trying to ignore the stab of pleasure that her words conjured up.

"Of course you have.  You've just had me and Coach McCoy along.  Do you really think that was all for my benefit?  Sandy and I have been pushing you two together for months.  She lost the pool by three weeks, by the way."

"Who won?"

"Well, if we're counting whatever you two got up to by the pool last night, then I think Mr. Morgan wins," she said.

"How do you know we got up to something?" Jensen squeaked.  "You weren't watching us, were you?"

"God no.  Eww.  You're my brother," Mac said, shivering in disgust.  "But you had this really happy grin on your face when you came back in.  I could tell something was up."

So much for nonchalant.

"So you don't mind if maybe I stay over at Jared's tonight?" Jensen asked.  "I don't want to do anything that will make things hard for you on the team."

"Dude, I love volleyball, but it's just a game.  You have a shot at being happy, and that will always come first for me," Mac said.

Jensen didn't think it was possible to love her more than he already did, but he was constantly proven wrong.

"So go get dressed," she said.  "And wear that green button down.  You look really good in it."

Jensen, for once, did exactly what she asked with no complaints at all.
