Tim's well aware of the fact that he looks like hell. He hasn't showered in about two days and his hair, which is usually stringy and unkempt even after just showering, is matted to one side of his head, loose and greasy on the other. The cuts on his lips are still sore, especially the bottom one and his entire face feels like he got into a fist ( Read more... )

It's not like he'd been counting the time. He wasn't Riggin's keeper, but they'd made a habit of checkin' in. Well, more than that. It was gettin' to be like old times, and more often than not, Jason's floor was occupied by six foot plus of snoring fullback.

But the last couple days had been noticeably quiet. Something wasn't right, Jason could just sorta feel it.

So, its not like he's surprised to see Tim Riggins standing there looking like he just went a couple rounds with a mountain lion. It wasn't like he hadn't seen it all before.

There's something in that tone Tim finds all too familiar and is just exactly why he's been trying to avoid this place. It actually sounds eerily like Coach the first time he'd seen Tim afterwards and Tim wonders if there's a reason for that. Not that he's thinking about it too hard.

"Don't you ever sleep?" he asks gruffly, hair falling over his eyes.

Deflection. Tim's a master at it. On the field, yeah, but especially off of it.

"Pretty sure I could ask the same of you," Jason said, arching a brow, and it didn't take a genius to figure out that Tim had been avoiding him. Which meant it was something bad, and most likely embarrassing.

"Jeez, man, you look like you feel into a wood chipper."

Tim's lips tug into a scowl at that and he looks up slowly, hair still hanging low over his eyes. There's probably no reason to lie to Jason, Tim figures he'll find out the truth sooner or later.

Tim would just rather later. Much much later.

"Got, uh... scratched up," he says, lying pretty easily. "Building. Piece of wood fell on me."
